Savor the Chill is a vegan ice cream company in Portland, OR. The idea is to serve local artisanal frozen desserts from a truck, utilizing seasonally available ingredients. I will be bringing vegan friendly ice cream to the masses without the overhead cost that is often involved in brick and mortar shops. I will also have the the ability to move locations, something most food carts lack. This opens up the possibility of catering, farmer's markets and local events.
Every flavor will be made in small batches using organic ingredients, no processed sugars or artificial flavors, and using a coconut or almond milk base. We will make all of our sauces, cones, and source as much product locally as possible.
Savor the Chill will also focus on being environmentally friendly, using only plant based serving bowls, silverware, and napkins. All of our equipment will run on electricity, and I am looking into the viability of alternative fuel sources for the truck. And once we are up and running, Savor the Chill will work on offering even more frozen desserts, like ice cream sandwiches and milkshakes.
To get started, I need to purchase a batch freezer in order to generate enough product to serve to the general public, as well as fill several wholesale accounts. There is also the possibility of providing custom flavors for a few local restaurants. Basically, my one and a half quart ice cream machine isn't going to cut it.
A decent ice cream machine goes for as little as $4,500 all the way up to $17,000! That's a lot of money to put together just for ice cream equipment alone.
People are already asking for our product, I just can't churn it out in the amounts needed. Any extra funds will go towards business insurance, any final licensing and time in a nice, clean commercial kitchen.
Of course, the most important part is the ability to provide delicious and innovative vegan products to our customers. So, I am asking for your help. This dream will be realized one way or another, but any additional help I can get will make it happen that much faster.
