The Community Splash
My name is Hannah Thomas; I am a senior member of The Ottawa Swim Club. I am currently organizing the first ever Ottawa Swim Club Community Splash. The Ottawa Swim Club Community Splash would expose community members of all ages to the health benefits, safety, and fun that swimming can build. Everyday ten Americans die of accidental drowning. As member of a swim team, a lifeguard, and a swim lessons instructor this statistic scares me. This event will spread awareness about the seriousness of learning to swim and enjoying the water. If even one life is saved it would be an acomplishment.
What we Need
In order to fund this event we are hoping to raise $1000. This is the break down of where the funds will go.
$300- Rental Fee for City Pool
$200- Radio and Newspaper Ads
$500- Prizes for Swimming Events (Free Membership to Swim Team, Free Swim Pass, Free Swimming Lessons, Swimming Gear, t-shirts, and Ottawa Swag)
As part of the Event we are holding community races for swimmers of all ages as well as competitions including the best belly flop and cannon ball.
Sponsors would receive autographed pictures of the champion youth swimmers as well as their name or business name on the back of t-shirts.
If the financial goal is not met, we will charge a small admission to the event of $1. The donations would instead go to the prizes and not the rental fee.
Your donation would directly affect the youth of my community. Can you think of an easier way to save so many lives?
