Harel Dabush, from Beer Sheva is only 5 years old and is faced with a life-threatening rare cancer. Now Harel needs special testing and treatment in the United States, but does not have enough money to pay for it.
Two and a half years ago was when the family discovered that Harel had a rare cancer, called Neuroblastoma. Slowly the tumor has spread to bones throughout the body and most recently the skull and chest. He received numerous chemotherapy, radiotherapy, bone marrow transplantation, and German experimental treatment that did not help. He had a bone marrow transplant, and harsh treatments, but the disease continued to strike.
His father and mother find it difficult to finance Harel's treatments alone putting the entire family through severe economic hardship. The father was forced to quit his job to bring Harel to the US. The working mother also takes care of the couple’s 2 year old daughter and is 9 months pregnant with their third child.
As a result of tests conducted, it was discovered that Harel’s body has become resistant to standard chemotherapy. The only chance to save Harel is with an experimental treatment performed at Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia. The cost plus payments for tests and stay, could reach $600,000 - an amount that the HMO is not going to pay and his parents cannot afford. $300,000 has been raised so far in order for Harel to start treatment and cover all expenses, but $300,000 is still needed.
Harel and his father arrived last week but unfortunately Harel’s mother was unable to make the journey as she is due any day. A local Cherry Hill, NJ family has selflessly opened up their home to Harel and his father during the three-month trial. G-d willing if Harel’s body responds well to the treatment, the family will be spending a year here.
Any donation big or small will help save Harel’s life. Harel needs your help.
