My name is Kaitlyn, and this Indiegogo campaign is for Hank the cat. Hank recently came to stay with me due to his owner traveling cross country for a month and a half. However, Hank has severe stress issues (mainly separation anxiety) and gastro-intestinal issues. For the first two weeks, everything was great.
However, the coupling of a small food change and getting super stressed led him to an intestinal infection. At first, I just thought Hank was a bit depressed due to separation. But I had the owner go ahead and set up an appointment for Hank to go to his vet on Monday (Dec 10th). This was the earliest they could or would see him. Two days ago, Hank stopped eating, drinking, and using the bathroom.

What this means for a cat is that, if they don't eat for 3 days or more, their kidneys start shutting down. I had no choice but to take Hank to the emergency vet clinic to start him on fluids immediately. Not only was he severely dehydrated (I was syringing water because he wouldn't drink on his own, but it wasn't enough), but he had a 105F temperature (normal cat is 101F). If I had not brought him in tonight, Hank would have most likely died tomorrow or Monday morning. As is, he is fighting to get better.

The owner told me flatout that she did not have the money to pay the vet bill, which is required up front. But no cat should have to die due to money being an issue. The vet bill, at lowest, will be $700. But they forcast that it could go all the way to $1,250.

By supporting this Indiegogo, you're not only supporting Hank (the most adorable derp ever), but you're supporting the idea that no animal should have to be put down due to financial burden.

All in all, the vet bill is currently at $700. After he is picked up from the emergency unit, any additional fees will be charged (if he had to have extra bloodwork or extra medications).

Even if we don't receive the full amount, any money will go to Hank's vet bill. Any money over will be donated to the Humane Society and other funds for pets who need surgeries.
