The Platform Group is a new theatre company whose mission is to create platforms for artists' work. We aim to produce things that are exciting, inspiring, and provide a place to stand on. We're currently raising funds to produce our first show, a 4 week run of pulitzer prize winning playwright, John Patrick Shanley's "Savage in Limbo" set to open February 10th at The Drilling Company Theatre (former 78th st. Theatre Lab) in conjunction with Rosalind Productions.
The impact of our project is huge. Very little theatre exists that is both intimate and powerful. We want to create a theatre that young people flock to, that the community finds daring and artists want to become a part of. Over 1,000 NY actors sent us their headshots and resumes in hopes to being seen for the remaining three roles in our show. This is the kind of theatre that can launch careers, and sky rocket existing ones. Savage in Limbo is a play about five people that find themselves at a bar in the Bronx one night in the 80s. Each person in their own way decides to change their life that night in a huge way. Artists come together to create things with a voice. This show wil leave people empowered, inspired, and uplifted.
What We Need & What You Get
Other Ways You Can Help
There are many other ways you can help. We need a free standing bar for the show. If you have one or access to one, we could use it. We need paint. We need stationary for thank yous. We need donated items for an auction for our funraising cabaret. You can tell other people about our project and how they can support a new theatre if they're looking for a charity to give to. You can tell people to come to our show. Every little bit helps and will bring us closer to our goal. Nothing is too little. We need your help.
