On Tuesday night, February 28th, Satchel's Pizza caught fire. As soon as we saw smoke, we got everyone out of the building and called 911. The fire department arrived and spent hours hacking at the roof and looking for the fire. The ceiling in the kitchen has been vaulted so the fire was just creeping around in small cavities looking for air. The firefighters found the fire. They pumped water in the walls. They saved the place from burning to the ground. A big thanks to the folks who fought our fire. Gainesville Fire Department rules!
This event leaves approximately 50 people unemployed until repairs can be done. Unemployment compensation pays a fraction of folks wages. Employees have house payments and kids to support. We've created this forum for folks to contribute to help the employees pay their bills while we put the kitchen and roof back in order.
You have bills. You know the deal. If you lost your job tomorrow, how would you pay the rent? The community is going nuts wanting to help us. "What can we do?" "How can we help?" This is a very real way you can show your support for our pizzeria and for the folks who make it happen every day.
What We Need & What You Get
We plan to take the last few months of employee income data and distribute any funds we receive in the same manner to the employees. The more you made at Satchel's, the more you will make from this campaign. if we reach our goal we pay 4% to this site via their guidelines. if we do not reach our goal we pay 9%. 100% of all funds not going to Indie Go Go will go to employees. If you give MORE than our goal, then more money gets to those who work at Satchel's. Our payroll is about $27,000 every 2 weeks. We don't know how long we will be closed but we know we will work hard to open as soon as we can.
Check out the perks for donating. We will have to get creative on how we give away the rewards so we don't get swamped on day 1. If you donate we will contact you with a time frame for when you can cash in your reward. We are thinking that we will give out rewards to a certain number of people per week so we aren't overwhelmed. If you can't make it in that week we will work with you. We are just a local family business after all.

You can also help by checking our facebook page and coming to see us when we re-open. Thanks. The community has been awesome. Everyone is asking to help and wishing us well. It warms my heart.
