For the last seven years, I have been watching sunset over the Pacific Ocean in San Diego California, snapping daily photos and marveling at the immense beauty and breathtaking daily sunsets.
My home sits at the end of the street, along Sunset Cliffs, with an unobstructed view that spans from La Jolla all the way down the coast to Point Loma.
And now, I want to share this incredible view with those who aren’t able to otherwise watch it by installing a streaming webcam on my roof and establishing a website with links and information aimed at inspiring us to keep the beaches and oceans clean.
What We Need & What You Get
In order to share San Diego Sunsets with the World, I need several things:
A webcam; website and hosting; and one good webmaster, that’s about it. We can do this-and maintain the site-for about $2,500. Ongoing hosting and maintenance fees to be deferred by advertisements on the site.
What’s it in for you aside from the perks? The ability to watch daily sunsets from one of the most breathtaking spots on Earth while inspiring others to keep our beaches and oceans clean.
And its not just sunsets, think big fluffy clouds, thick coastal fog rolling in, waves, waves and more waves, massive flocks of pelicans floating by, surf check, dolphins, whales, sea lions and other marine life frolicking in the ocean, military ships coming and going; sails boats, rowers, jet-skis, rainbows, etc. (Make sure to look at my Gallery!)
Your contribution to funding the sunset-cam is priceless.
Of utmost important to me, is the environment. The San Diego Daily Sunset coastal website will also contain educational coastal information, everything from how you can help keep our beaches/oceans clean, what others are doing, ways to get invloved as well as a tide chart, water quality information, beach clean up dates, activism info, etc.
If our goal is NOT met, donations will go to several surf related non-profits who spend countless hours keeping our beaches and oceans clean.
Because really, there are few words to explain the beauty of a post-sunset glow illuminating the clouds from behind as it drenchs the Pacific Ocean in a surreal red light....I simply want to share this view with the world and help keep our beaches and oceans clean!
Thanks! And if you can't contribute, thats okay, but we'd love for you to share with your friends, family, and social media circle ;)
