A couple of weeks ago, Ryan went in to the doctor to have a lump on his leg checked. On Wednesday, July 17th, Ryan found out he has cancer, and has already started chemotherapy. He'll undergo surgery for the tumor, and chemotherapy for the dark shadows that were found in his chest. He won't be able to work for a couple of months, and his feature film, "Zombie Musical," has been put on hold. The Vine Community would like to raise some money while he fights, which is why we need your donation.
Ryan scored a hit on Vine with his video series "Ryan Gosling Won't Eat His Cereal." He recieved international media attention with a great idea and and innovative use of the new Vine App.
What We Need & What You Get
In the UK, Ryan's hospital bills be will taken care of, but he will not be able to work during the chemotherapy and recovery process. We want to raise this money to ease him back once chemotherapy is finished. Ryan was in the middle of preproduction of his first feature film, "Zombie Musical," based on his BAFTA Award Winning short (The UK version of an Academy Award). With the news of his cancer, the film has been put on hold until treatment is finished.
A variety of different Vine Artists have donated some great perks. Even without the perks, you're giving Ryan a cushion to live on during his treatment, as well as a springboard to bounce back into producing and directing his first feature film.
Staying positive is essential to a cancer patient's fight. Support from friends and fans around the world will help Ryan get through this. Your donation will help Ryan directly, with costs of not being able to work, as well as keeping money come in for his feature film.
Before Vine, none of us had met. Vine has been a life-changer for many of us, and we'd like to show our support to Ryan as he goes through chemotherapy.
