Why Launch with no video/content?
I wasn't planning on launching for another two months, but we had to have a link for our Fox News article.
I won't be pushing this campaign for another month or so, so feel free to hold off on the contributions and sharing the campaign for now!
RS Flux and RS Flux 2D
RS Flux is a Rhythm Based First Person Shooter concepted by myself in mid-late 2011. While it had a considerable amount of popularity with the people who played, saw, or heard of it, and we were able to get donations from twelve different countries, and from all over the U.S, this was not enough to reach our funding goal in time. RS Flux has since been continued off and on out of my own pocket, but I can not afford to keep a staff full time to work on it. Since people seemed to love the idea so much, I thought I'd make a more affordable, lighter version, for mobile platforms. Here enters RS Flux 2D. RS Flux 2D has the same engrossing storyline and music, but will be demoted to a Side Scrolling Shooter. Gameplay remains mostly the same, and many of the enemies and bosses will return in a new 2D format. This will allow us to get the important parts of the game (Gameplay and story) out there without having to spend another year on visuals.
Funding: Why we need it, and what you get.
Really, the funding goes straight to paychecks. I have the software that we need, we provide our own hardware (some of which I provide out of pocket), and our expenses are extremely low. I've been lucky enough to be comped free office space for my employees, because my employers are just that awesome! So what it all boils down to, is paying people for their work. Simply put, your money is creating jobs, and the more we get, the longer these jobs continue.
What you get: Aside from a copy of the game no matter what you donate, there are a number of great perks, you should go check them out. (No really)
My favorite is the 1337 Perk, and I honestly hope we can get someone to grab that. The 1337 Perk allows the donor to help create and design every aspect of a boss fight, or be in one of our existing boss fights as an ally to the player.
Every contribution to RS Flux 2D helps to create jobs. It's really that simple.
In the short term, these donations directly fund jobs. These jobs only last as long as the donations allow, but they help to create permanent jobs by establishing our studio more firmly in the mobile market. This means permanent jobs for Houston developers.
Want to help but can't donate?
If you really want to help us out, the best thing you can do is tell more people and get them excited, and that by itself has a reward too. If you refer someone who donates ANYTHING, have them mention you in their donation or as a comment on our page, and you'll get a copy of the game. If you refer more people, you'll recieve the perk equal in dollar values to the number of people you refer. So for all you people out there that are as broke as I am half the time, this is your ticket to getting free stuff!
