The LIFEbike (Lightweight, Intelligent, Flexible, Electric bike) is designed to provide urban commuters with the most convenient, fun and easy way to get from A to B without breaking a sweat. As an electric bike, LIFEbike does not require a license or insurance to operate in most parts of the world. Its compact design means it can be stored almost anywhere, making it ideal for small space living; it can easily fit into a closet or elevator to go from condo to office.

What’s the big deal?
LIFEbike has already won 4 Industrial Design awards and 2 Business Awards and is made in Canada. And actually, it’s the small stuff about the LIFEbike that makes it a big deal:
- Upright riding position is easy and comfortable
- The LIFEbike can be folded and unfolded in about 10 seconds.
- LIFEbike is compact and chainless (and greaseless), so you can take it virtually anywhere you go.
- The LIFEbike design is simple to operate and is virtually maintenance-free.
- LIFEbike costs only 5 cents a day to operate.
- Its zero-emissions means it’s a green form a transportation.
With your help, we plan to bring this exciting, one-of-a-kind design to the market this fall.
LIFEbike has already garnered several awards and much press coverage.

Meet Henry Chong, an Industrial Designer and the creator of the LIFEbike. A life-long lover of bicycles and design, Henry’s been a bike-commuter for over 35 years who appreciates the enormous sense of freedom and connection with his community when he’s on two-wheels. With the latest advances in technology, electric bikes now make it possible for more people to travel by bike more often and redevelop the ties to their communities.
“I decided to take a fresh approach to electric personal transport. I felt that a vehicle with an iconic design would inspire people to think differently about their transportation options. I wanted a design that would fit easily into people’s lives and into the existing infrastructure. It had to be fun, easy to ride, practical, and look cool, of course!”
Mixing his industrial design background with his natural flair for art and design, Henry created the LIFEbike – a compact, affordable form of green personal transportation that offers freedom from congestion and costly transportation options. And don’t forget: you look great riding it too.
With your help we can take LIFEbike from prototype and put it in the hands of happy riders in the real world and encourage more people to embrace travel on 2-wheels.
LIFEbike will have an ultralight production weight, including battery, of near 15kgs, and can travel 30 kilometres on five cents worth of electricity. The lockable battery is easily detachable and charges like a laptop battery within 4 hours. A simple twist of the thumb controlled throttle will allow the rider to reach a top speed of 25 km/h. The unique ergonomic design lowers the center of gravity, is easier to ride, and enables an upright riding position that provides the rider with a clearer view of their surroundings for greater agility, confidence, and safety.
The patent pending front pedaling technology allows riders to dynamically switch the front wheel crank arms from a resting position for comfortable cruising to an active pedaling position.
Under development is the storage system for the LIFEbike. Here's a video of the prototype front mounting storage rack and pannier that I had loaded up with about 5 kg of groceries.
We are working hard to meet these specifications as we begin production. As we are in final prototype state, some of these specs might change slightly.
- Frame and fork 6061 aluminum
- Motor 250-watt geared brushless
- Battery 36V 10Ah lithium
- Length 114cm
- Size, compacted 109cm x 30cm x 79cm
- Weight 15.4 kg
- Distance per charge 30 km (approx. 5 cents electricity)
- Max speed 25km/h
- Wheel size 20” front x 16” back
We have been refining our production prototype since the concept was first conceived 2 years ago. We have tested the prototypes on over 170 riders ranging in age from 16 to 74 (see our Facebook fan page for the Test Riders gallery https://www.facebook.com/ReveloBikes). Everyone was able to ride successfully on their very first try.
The design intent of the LIFEbike was to make it easy to maintain, easy to ride, great looking, lightweight, strong, safe, and contain common parts that are easy to replace. From our prototypes, we have completed our first manufacturing 3D model and have located a bike manufacturer in Canada to work with us.
The first prototypes were hand-built by Henry and we look forward to putting the first manufactured prototypes through rigorous testing this summer.
The costs to get us to production are extensive and this is where we need your help. We are aiming to get the first limited edition LIFEbikes out this September.
Whenever Henry rides the LIFEbike, people always stop him and ask, "That's cool! Where can I get one?" With your help, we can complete the testing of our final prototypes and get them in the hands of happy riders like you very soon!

We are a team with a mission to revolutionize personal transportation with clean and efficient electric transportation alternatives that give people more fun and freedom. We hope game changing designs like our LIFEbike will encourage more people to adopt greener modes of transportation, thus helping relieve our cities of congestion and empowering them to better explore and connect with their surroundings.
My passion lies within the intersection of human interaction, mobility systems and urban development. With the emergence of the electric bike technology, I became a strong proponent of electric bikes as an immediately available, green and sustainable transportation option, especially for urban environments.
After a 20-year career in Information Technology, I decided to pursue my true passion to become an Industrial Designer and completed my degree from OCADU in 2011. As a 35-year bicycle enthusiast and urban commuter, I focused my thesis project on the transportation needs of the urban commuter and created the LIFEbike.
Realizing how empowering LIFEbike can be for so many, I founded Revelo Bikes Inc. in 2012 with a mission to create innovative, fun and highly usable personal electric vehicles that inspire and empower others to live life more fully.
As a child immigrant to Canada, I am especially proud to present the LIFEbike as a designed-in-Canada solution and can’t wait to watch it revolutionize urban commuting around the world.
Revelo Bikes Inc. is a new Canadian company dedicated to revolutionizing personal transportation and we have received generous support from MaRS, OCE, OCADU, and Venture Start to help guide us through our development.
For all our supporters, we would like to engage you for your input as we further develop the LIFEbike. We’ve already received enquiries and interest for the LIFEbike from around the world and for all types of use. We’ve been asked by major academic and industrial campuses to offer the LIFEbike as a campus bike; we’ve been asked by seniors who see this as a manageable, trusted, personal transportation companion; busy families see this as an affordable "2nd car;" others with mobility and balance concerns have suggested a tricycle version of the LIFEbike.
With your contribution, we invite you to add your voice to this conversation as there is much impact that the LIFEbike can make, to lives, to communities, and to cities.
Together, we can help reduce congestion, encourage the use of a greener form of transportation, and empower individuals by providing greater personal mobility.
"Gas prices continue to rise and people are looking for alternative methods of transportation. The world continues to become a green, sustainable society and the LIFEbike is a perfect fit - The Crowdfund Mafia "
