Short Summary
Greetings! My name is Kara Macro and I am an Assistant Innkeeper and have been for the past seven years on beautiful Cape Cod in Massachusetts. I currently work at the Beechwood Inn located in Historic Barnstable Village, MA. The Beechwood Inn is for sale and my husband, Frank and I would like to purchase this property. We have been planning and saving for many years to buy a business on Cape Cod. We have both lived here for 20+ years. The prices are right for buying and we are ready BUT it appears the financial world is a bit broken right now. We have the down payment covered and plenty of money to start off with but the lending world does not agree and would like us to secure MORE money in order to back us on purchasing this business. As honest and hard working Cape Cod residents, we could not just ask people for money because we want a business. We would like to offer you a great deal on a room in exchange for your financial support and patience while we purchase the Beechwood Inn. We would like you to consider relaxing on Cape Cod!
What We Need & What You Get
What we need is to satisfy the requirement of the lender of having 25% of the purchase price in the bank at the time of purchase, in CASH. We have some of the money but need to raise $100,000- $120,000 more. The monies raised from this campaign will go solely towards the operation of the Inn itself after the purchase is complete.
We could think of no better way to get the money we need other than to offer people an exceptional deal on a room at the Beechwood Inn on Cape Cod!! All of the perks to the right are about a 40% discount off the current prices at this Inn and others on Cape Cod! We hope this discount will allow many people who have been unable to afford a trip to the Cape in the past couple of years a chance to visit also. Everyone will get a box of Famous Cape Cod Saltwater Taffy and a Postcard of thanks from us! PLUS- whichever perk you are entitled too under the amount of support you are willing to lend.
Here is what you can expect to happen...
-Pledge your money and pick your perk
-At the end of this campaign (December) when our goal has been met, we will start the process of purchasing the Beechwood Inn. We expect this to take 30-90 days before we are official owners.
-Once we are officially owners(by March of 2013)- we will contact you and offer to redeem your stay! If you are not ready to visit Cape Cod - we will mail you a Gift Certificate detailing your perk/stay. You may keep this until you are ready to use OR you may gift it to someone else to use!
-THE ONLY RESTRICTION- We will have no restrictions or certain times or days you must stay- as Inn and Motels on Cape Cod often do- you may redeem your perk in the Summer or weekend or whenever you would like. The only restriction we must enforce is that we do not allow children under 12 years of age at the Inn. We are willing, however to deal with this on a case by case basis. If you have children and are interested in supporting us- please do not hesitate to ask!

*** IMPORTANT: We want you to know that there is every possibility that someone could purchase the Beechwood Inn before we are able too. We do have a back up plan!! There are currently 5 other Inn's (same price) with similar amenities for sale on Cape Cod and all within a short distance from this Inn. This campaign is about YOU getting to relax on Cape Cod and US buying an Inn. We want you to feel secure about supporting us. We didn't just drive by an Inn and decide it might be fun- this has been my very satisfying career for the past seven years and my husband is a Restaurant General Manager- we enjoy serving people and helping them to enjoy Cape Cod. No matter what happens- we aim to own an Inn and give you a great place to relax on Cape Cod! Should we be unable to purchase an Inn by March 2013- we would happily REFUND all monies back to you! ****
The Impact
How does your support of us buying an Inn help? Cape Cod is a seashore community made up of about one dozen towns. The cost of living is very high here and the pay rates are lower than the rest of our state. Year round residents are being eaten alive by this bad economy. Many residents have moved off of Cape Cod and out of State- others have moved in with each other in one home. For each year round resident lost to this bad economy- there is not a new resident to replace them. Instead, we have a bunch of people buying properties (especially historic) for private use for vacation purposes and only using them for two weeks out of the year. These grand historic properties are no longer available to the public or local residents, as they should be. Consider your support of us buying an Inn as a step in saving the year round population of Cape Cod and allowing one of our grand historic properties to stay in the right hands and be open to the public for all to enjoy! Cape Cod's history is where America's history began!!
