Born Ready Films began in the fall of 2009 when Drew Morris moved to Chicago to study film at Columbia College. In less than 2 years, we have wrapped over 40 short films, completed our first feature length film, and became a Limited Liability Company. Last spring, we began production on Red Balls, which started as a mockumentary web series and has now has evolved into something much bigger. With an ensemble cast featuring the comedic talents of the most handsome actors in the the Chicagoland area, we have created a feature length film without even writing a script.
This film was shot with a minimal 2 page outline of each dodgeball team and their back stories. However, when the cameras began to roll, several things changed. The product we have now is 10 times better than we could have ever imagined. Rather than try to force lines on our actors, we welcome improv, which has made this project what it is today. Even the tournament itself was completely unscripted. We showed up at a warehouse on the south side of Chicago and had a legitimate dodgeball tournament with 4 cameras rolling. Red Balls is proof that filmmakers don't need a huge budget to make a film, as long as you have creativity and the drive to make it happen. So far, we have only spent about $200 dollars on this project.
What We Need & What You Get
What we need now is money for post production fees. The film is nearly complete, but we would like to get some professional color correction and visual effects. We also need money for festival entry fees and creating a solid marketing campaign for the film. With your help, we can make this film presentable to distributors and get it out to the public!
