What's This All About?

• Our team has stepped in and stepped up in support of the raw foods movement on an expansive, global level. The dedication has shown up through the years in the following initiatives, all in need of seed funding. We are cultivating community so that we show up as a Force for Nutritional Good on the Planet, inviting people to add more raw, organic plant foods to the diet, to:

  a. Increase Our Health

  b. Decrease Our Eco-Footprint

  c. Raise Our Spirits

  We have been personally asked by dozens of raw foods community leaders to step up to the plate and fulfill these projects on behalf of the community, and we have said YES! Exemplary teammates are coming on board to assist our founder Laura Chiraya Fox in the realization of these visions.

• Best of Raw has been holding the annual awards contest for the raw foods movement since 2008. At Best of Raw, we honor and celebrate the people, places, products, media and eco-intiatives of the raw foods movement as our way of creating greater health and ecological well-being on our beautiful planet.

• In 2012, we are introducing Peer To Peer Industry Awards this year, to expand the horizons of how we can authentically celebrate and honor the people, places, products and eco-initiatives of the raw foods movement.

• We are holding the Awards Ceremony at the first annual Raw Living Expo in Sedona, Arizona, February 22-24 2013 at a gorgeous Sedona resort This event is designed to support and promote raw foods entrepreneurs, educators and chefs, who are part of our larger team, inviting humanity to eat more raw, organic plant foods — in order to increase health and decrease our ecological footprint.

• We will have raw foods celebrities announce the 53 Awards of the online contest, during the Raw Living Expo. The online awards season is from October-November (nominations) thru December-January (voting)

• The Raw Living Expo Main Stage Appearances will also be Live Streamed to the world, so that raw foods enthusiasts around the globe can participate, enjoy and see who’s who in the raw foods movement.

   

Why We Need Your Support

We have many initiatives outlined below, which we have been cultivating with little to no money since 2008. Our two main initiatives in need of funding are:

a. The Annual Best of Raw Awards (now underway for 2012)

b. The Raw Living Expo

BEST OF RAW AWARDS & ADDITIONAL INITIATIVES

• BEST OF RAW AWARDS: STILL FREE TO ENTER AND VOTE!
The Best of Raw Awards, which will be announced at the Raw Living Expo, are in their 5th year. This project has been a total labor of love without full compensation for many years. And this year, our new voting platform costs more than $5000, to assist in promoting the many awesome individuals who are inviting humanity to add more raw, organic plant foods to the diet.

• RAW FOODS PACKAGED GOODS STANDARDS ALLIANCE
Our collective has also been working diligently towards the formation of Raw Foods Standards for the Packaged Goods Marketplace. This has also been a labor of love without compensation. To more these efforts forward, seed funding is absolutely required.

• RAW FOODS INDUSTRY DIRECTORY
In 2012, we are launching our first act towards the formation of the Raw Alliance, the official Trade Association for the Raw Foods Movement. This comes in the form of a comprehensive Industry Directory, which will remain FREE to all for the first year as we build the Alliance website and support systems.

• BEST OF RAW PUBLISHING
With 2 titles of e-books already complete and dozens more underway from our collective, Best of Raw Publishing will also be producing a professional quality DVD of the Chef Demos of the Raw Living Expo. We definitely need funding to take all of our publishing initiatives to the next level!

• THE SUSTAINABLE FEAST CHEF SHOWCASE INITIATIVE
We are often invited to other festivals and events to deliver "Sustainable Feast Chef Showcases" where people attending can learn how to eloquently and deliciously reduce their eco-footprint while pleasing their palates and increasing their health. These offerings have been underfunded. We wish to expand these initiatives into 2013 and beyond!

• RAW LIVING SINGLES
We have been asked by the community to create a Raw Singles platform, and this is in development.

• RAW LIVING COMMUNITY
We have initiated a Community Site that is in support of people getting to know each other and stay in touch before, during and after the Expo. This initiative will expand and grow in the ways the community shows us it wants to.

RAW LIVING EXPO

• EXPO EXTRAVAGANZA!
The Raw Living Expo is a huge undertaking, from entertainment and media, to speakers, musicians, team members, staging, lighting, exhibitors, professional chef demos, and a whole lot more. 

• MUSICAL LINE UP: 4 BANDS & 3 DJs
Our full musical line up includes four bands and 3 DJ dance parties as well as musical in-betweeners throughout the weekend. Running the sound for these bands properly, and bringing them to the event, costs a pretty penny. The Luminaries, Earth and The Next Society, Robot Puppets (Cipes's New Band) and The Golden West (Matt Amsden's Band - Rawvolution) will rawk the house along with DJ's Dexx and Sharu and Mixtress Hava.

• GREEN CARPET CELEBRITY WALK IN AWARDS DINNER
The Awards Dinner is one of the most costly aspects of the event, and our lovely venue requires us to have all these fees paid up front before the show can go on! The cost of the dinner alone is $15,000. We will have additional costs such as Live Streaming, Entertainment, Decorations, etcetera, making our total Gala Expense around $20,000.

• LIVE STREAMING THE RAW ORGANIC MESSAGE TO THE WORLD!
We are LIVE STREAMING our Main Speaker's Stage and roving interviews to the world via PeaceDay.TV. Our sponsors at PeaceDay.TV also believe in our mission as a force for nutritional good on the planet and are hosting our stream gratis, with the exception of any support we might need from video professionals on their side. However, just ensuring we have the proper bandwidth to make this stream a great success is extremely expensive, not to mention the camera crews, equipment and coordinating teams that this calls for. We need dollars to pull this off in the most seamless, professional way possible, so that our raw foods movement goes out to the world with power and in style!

• SEEDING THE BIG SUMMER RAW FOODS FESTIVAL!With the $75,000 we will be able to pull off a wonderful event that will touch many lives as well as have some additional seed money for the outdoor summer festival that everyone is asking about, and to continue our initiatives at Best of Raw and the Raw Alliance.

• COVERING ALL THESE INITIATIVES COSTS MORE THAN TICKET SALES CAN BRING!
Funds from a sold out house of tickets, exhibitors and sponsorship won't fully cover all of these rawsome initiatives. Thus we are reaching out to you, our community, to get these projects funded so we can rawk the planet!

The Impact

• We feel humanity has barely scratched the surface of awareness on the ecological impact of our food habits. We are here to change that, and to help people realize that, when we come into harmony with the planet upon which we live, we will also reap the benefits of sustained, vital health and a flourishing community on all levels.

• This event will be livestreamed through Peaceday.tv across 3,000 of the top NGO websites in the world to their regular potential audience of 150,000 people and a potential "archives" audience of over 986,000.  We really have a huge opportunity to share our message and make a difference in the world!
