Ahoy there! We're creating a revolution in boating with the world’s coolest unfolding boat and we need your help to make it happen.

The first model of our unfolding boat was called a “Flat-Out-Boat”. We made 50 of these and the owners absolutely love them!

The Flat-Out-Boat won numerous awards because of its patented design that covers how it unfolds and how the power is transferred to the boat. 

The boat is strong, rigid and planes beautifully even in mildly choppy conditions. It can manage 20 knots with up to four people on board and is easy to control.

In the past couple of years we’ve improved upon the original boat by making the Quickboat lighter, stronger, safer and even easier to build.

Who is behind this project?

Our team consists of some of the world’s brightest industrial designers at Design + Industry, composite specialists and process engineers from Tromes Design.

Deryck Graham (Seen in the photo above and the time lapse video earlier in the project description) is the President and founder of Quickboats.

Born in the US, he has built a number of successful start-ups around the core technology of advanced composites. He was a founder of the very cool Eagle Aircraft that manufactured advanced composite, 2 seat aircraft, and more recently co-founded Quickstep Technologies that develops technologies to mass manufacture cars using carbon fiber. He likes this stuff but he really loves the Quickboat!

Why an unfolding boat?

The Quickboat solves two of the biggest challenges people face when considering buying a boat - having enough room to store one and enough money to buy one.

Because the boat can be flat packed it can hang on the wall in your garage, fit  on the roof of your car and transported to your local lake or across the nation.

The 10.8’ Quickboat can be stored in two bags that will weigh under 88lbs/40kgs together (even less than the current boat design you see in the main video above), making it easy to store and transport anywhere. (Motor not included)

Because the Quickboat is so affordable and you don’t need a heap of space to store it, even if you hadn't thought of owning a boat before - now the world has changed and you can.  The Quickboat is easy for people of all ages to unfold, and even easier to control on the water, regardless of your boating experience.

The panels for the hull of the Quickboat are built using advanced composites as are the super strong, lightweight hinges that hold them together.

With the help of our composites engineer, we’ve been able to make the Quickboat weigh under 88lbs (40kgs).

Frequently asked questions

Will I get my Indiegogo option hats and gifts before Christmas?
Yes, unless you live at the North Pole we expect to provide you all with fantastic Christmas presents for your tree!

What will it cost to deliver my boat to me in 2013?
We expect to deliver your boat to your door most anywhere in the USA, Australia or Western Europe for about $200. That is cheap! If it is a bit more we will pay the difference if it is a lot more (you live on top of some mountain top in the middle of the Alps or something) then we might share the difference. Whatever is fair! If you live in the Himalayas we will have to work this out together.

Will my option number guarantee me with a boat?
Your Indiegogo option puts you ahead of all normal purchasers (we get 1-3 per day) to get the boat in 2013. If you want to be ahead of everyone then some priority is given to the 30+ people that will buy a Quickboat outright.

How many will the first production order be and when are they expected to be delivered?
The first production order will be for 225 boats. They will are expected to be available to Indiegogo VIP’s in August or September 2013. If you are outside this number put another 30 days on this date.

Will the boat be certificated for use?
Yes the Quickboat must be certificated for use in the USA, Europe, the UK and Australia if it is sold there and you are to use it. Remember the boat will be approved for recreational use not commercial rental etc. Not on day one. If for some reason you have purchased a boat and we cannot get the boat certificated in your country without undue expense we will refund your money. We think this is most unlikely.
