A History Of Pyr8z!
Pyr8z!Online began in 2007 when I created about 20 different characters and a basic premise of an online radio broadcast station. In 2008, I boiled these 20 characters down to the station crew of 6 people. I gave them an antagonist to overcome based on a collection of past bosses I've struggled under. I know that we have all got nasty bosses in our pasts. I needed a story. I turned again to the internet and found an aspiring young writer in Illinois, Sydney Gann, with the same slightly twisted wit as mine. We worked feverishly for months over pots of coffee and the light of our monitors as we fired back and forth in Google chat, emails and rambled on over Skype calls. We brainstormed ideas and came up with the synopsis of about 30 ideas, which was reduced to 20 outlines and then simmered to a deliciously funny 10 scripts. We developed and redeveloped the characters to fit the stories. We gave them full backgrounds to bring them to life. We moulded them into the great characters we have today. That process took 4 years. Finally, in the summer of 2012, we were ready for the final step. To make a pilot!
The Pyr8z Crew!
I needed a crew. Again I went in search of the best crew online and found a fantastic young Director, Jaeden LeClerc, a man with amazing ideas and talent that can grow my series into the next stratosphere of dark comedy!
Jaeden brought with him an Assistant Director, Andrew Vineberg, with whom he has worked in the past. When they fire off ideas it's like watching the synapses fire between two sides of a single brain.
Asad Aman is a gifted Director of Photography with a great eye for lighting and graphics design. His editing skills are incredible!
To help me pull all of the pieces together and keep them running smooth, I have an amazingly dedicated Production Assistant, Kaitlyn Kriss. She has an extensive background as a Stage Manager in theater and is the main reason that I haven't gone crazy yet. Kaitlyn is also my Webmaster and Social Media guru who looks after the Facebook and Twitter sites as well as the website.
Viki Pierce-Goodland is my Social Media Coordinator to the Gay and Lesbian Community. I felt that it was very important to have a coordinator that was a respected member of this community to reach out and build a relationship with this very major part of the online audience.
In the production office, I am assisted by Christine Orman, my Production Secretary, who keeps me on track with responding to emails, schedules, and communications. Without her, I would be truly lost.
We also just got our Composer, Song Writer, and Singer Sean Stephensen. A very talented young man who is a diamond in the rough. He is making the theme song for our show along with all music needed for each episode. We are so glad to have found him and appreciate him volunteering his skills to help make this show successful.
Who Am I?
I am merely the producer that brought all of these key ingredients together. I have worked my entire life with the dream of creating great shows, movies, books, any medium that lets me share my ideas and stories with people. Next to the people I mentioned above, I am insignificant. But my stories...oh, my stories will be told!
Where Are We Going?
We want to make the pilot to show you how great this series will be. In February 2013, we will gather again to make the other 9 scripts come to life.
By contributing to the success of this pilot episode “P.O.V.”, you help us make this dream become a reality and bring an amazing new comedy series to life! You will be helping to redefine the quality and direction of online media. You will be planting the seed for an entire industry.
This series is the first step for us. Around this show, we will build a Pyr8z Universe of interactive media, reaching out to fans to include them in development and promotion the likes of which have not been seen with any online series. Live web chats, appearances, text chats through Twitter and Facebook, podcasts, events and music!
The next step is to build a digital media production house that will develop and film other series for your entertainment with the same idea of creating a community around each show. Fan driven, instead of Ad driven.
Can you help us to reach this goal?
What We Need & What You Get
To reach our financial needs to film and promote the pilot episode, we need to raise $16 000 in funding.
Pyr8z the Evolution of a Video
We shot the Fundraising Pitch included in the updates in our basement over 3 hours on basic equipment just to see what we could do with very little. Jaeden made his Director's cut. He spent two entire days editing and meeting a very tight deadline. Not that bad, really.
Next came Asad, our DOP, graphic artist and very talented editor. He provided his expertise and made the Editorial cut.
All videos can be seen on YouTube. Subscribe to WatchPyr8zOnline and see the evolution process yourself!
Now imagine what we can give you with the right amount of support for a full studio and equipment setup!
We want to do this right. We want to make a quality project. To do that, we need contributions. We need to get the right lighting and sound gear to compliment our camera (Nikon D3100 DSLR HD) and our microphone (Rode shotgun). We need to rent a properly outfitted studio. We need to build and decorate the two basic sets for the pilot and series. We need wardrobe and props. We would very much like to pay our professional cast who have agreed to work for only $50 a scene because they believe so strongly in this show. The crew have agreed to work for peanuts, volunteering much of their time to bring this show to life. We need to pay for all the little things that make a show great!
I hope you can help us!
But never fear! If we can't quite reach our goal, we will use whatever funds we raise to improvise, adapt and overcome to bring you this amazing show!
