My name is Jennifer Lemmons, and I’m the owner of Lorelines, A North Carolina Confection Company. I started Lorelines in 2011 after learning my grandmother, Lorelei White, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. We launched our business with two goals: (1) grow our business and (2) incorporate a philanthropic model into our business that will continue to honor my grandmother for many years to come.
We’ve had steady growth over the last few years and are now ready for part 2. We’ve chosen Alzheimers North Carolina as our partner and are creating some awesome projects this year!
- Ginny O's Gourmet Cheese Rings
- Chad's Carolina Corn
- Senora Dixie Salsa
- The Peanut Roaster
- Oscar William Cotton Candy
- Bake Envie French Pastries
- Salem Baking Company
We've created a gift basket with a retail value of over $75 and all reduced our prices to make this gift available for under $50. Our goal is to collectively sell at least 1,000 gift baskets this holiday season and donate $10 of every sale back to Alzheimers North Carolina. If we meet this goal, we can make a donation of $10,000 this year alone. As our project build momentum, through the years (because this will be a forever addition to our business model), it will continue to help our participating small businesses, and our donations will only get larger! It’s a win win for everyone involved, down to the recipients of the services provided by our donations! And just what if....what if we can sell 2,000 or 5,000, or even 10,000 of these baskets?
This project will not only help create a legacy for my grandmother, but will highlight other small, North Carolina businesses and raise valuable funding for Alzheimers North Carolina, so that training, education and research can continue to grow and help our communities.
What We Need
Lorelines has grown to the point that not only to support and grow our current business, but support our new projects with Alzheimers North Carolina, we need warehouse space for storing, preparing and shipping. This is a tough one - we need the space to move forward, but our budget is not there yet and we cannot afford this undertaking without some help. We are asking our friends, family, colleagues and supporters of Lorelines to make contributions towards the following milestones:
$5,000 This will get us in our warehouse and secure baskets for our Alzheimer's project. At this point, it will be able to happen, BUT - there are so many costs involved with moving into the warehouse and supporting our project that I'm creating stretch goals and milestones with the hopes of raising much more!
$15,000 This milestone will help us get our warehouse to working order. We need work tables, shelving units, storage racks, utility carts, hand trucks, shop stools, anti-fatigue mats, shipping scales, a pallet truck and so much more! It will also allow us to prepay the participating small businesses for 1/4 of their commitment to the Alzheimers North Carolina Gift Basket program, covering some of their operating and food costs to prepare the finished product. Since we are all small businesses and working on small budgets, reaching this goal would be a big benefit to the project.
$20,000 This milestone will allow us to add another small business product into our Alzheimer's gift basket without raising the retail price, and will give us the opportunity to formally market our gift basket to reach as many people as we can.
$40,000 This milestone will allow us to prepay the participating small businesses for the remaining 3/4 of their commitment to the Alzheimer's North Carolina Gift Basket. This is HUGE! If we have raised this amount, it means we have reached a magnitude of people, which will mean I need new employees in our warehouse and kitchen to meet the demand. This would be amazing, and if we get here, I will gladly sit down and take this plan to the next level and provide more stretch goals and perks!
Upon completion of this campaign, Lorelines will be settled into our warehouse and ready to grow into the next steps of supporting our Alzheimer's Gift Baskets! I'm counting on all of our supporters out there to not only hear my passion, but share it with me! If we can meet our goals of this funding project, it will secure the foundation for Lorelines and set us up to continue to be able to support our 2nd business goal of creating that legacy for my grandmother.
After the funding campaign is over and we start building baskets, everyone who participates in this project will have an exclusive opportunity to purchase the baskets at an even deeper discounted rate! They will be available in mid-October.
Other Ways You Can Help
I am well aware of tight budgets. I'm living one right now at home and with my small business. In no way do I want you to feel obligated to support our cause financially. Donations can be as big or small as you like, and we are grateful for anything that is contributed. Every single dollar helps us meet our goals. There are so many other ways you can help our business and our campaign succeed without donating money.
Most important - SHARE THIS PROJECT
By sharing this project with your friends, family and colleagues, and giving your personal endorsement...you are sharing so much more than our request for funding! You are sharing our individual businesses and stories, your marketing our Alzheimer's gift basket and you are opening us up to more potential donors. Also, the more shares and interaction we get earns "points" with indiegogo, which count towards making us a featured story. A featured story would mean exposure way beyond our personal networks - it would now include indiegogos network - international!. Please share over email, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and any other social platforms that I'm not tech savvy enough to know about.
Donations of Warehouse Items
We need everything to stock a warehouse. Everything. We need work tables, shelving units, storage racks, utility carts, hand trucks, shop stools, anti-fatigue mats, office chairs, work tables, white boards and chalk boards, shipping scales, storage for multiple boxes, pallet trucks, small warehouse items like bins, brooms, labelers, dollies, software, printers...the list goes on and on. I'm sure when we get moved in, the list will continue to grow. Any items you think may have a warehouse purpose, I am interested.
Physical Help / Volunteers
There is a lot of cleaning, painting, assembling shelves and moving that will come into play during the warehouse move.
There is lots of networking and organizing donor gifts (I'll explain below), and I'll need a facebook wizard to help me keep the prize page up to date.
There are perks to be assembled and organized and shipped.
During our Alzheimer's Project, there will be lots and lots of gift baskets to build!
Donations of Gifts
One of the coolest things (I think) that I'm incorporating into this fundraiser....that I am so excited about is a gift drawing. My brain has worked overtime to figure a way to share our fundraiser with many, many people and at the same time highlight other small businesses. I decided on a gift drawing. Every donation over $10 will earn 1 ticket for a drawing at the conclusion of the campaign. We are not selling these tickets, all chances to win are equal regardless of your donation amount, and only contributors to this project will have a chance to earn a ticket.
We are currently seeking gift donations to be used as prizes. In exchange, we will offer your company message, link to your website and offer information about your donation.
We are looking for fun gifts of all sizes and values - the more variety the more fun! Use this as an opportunity to highlight your business! Food, Services, Gift Cards, Art, Toys, Jewelry, Event Tickets, Gift Baskets, Mittens and Rubber Ducks, Candles, Vacations, Music from a Budding Artist, Autographed Posters, Car Parts! (No live animals please :))
I did confirm with indiegogo that we are not allowed to "have a contest of chance" on our campaign. I want to make sure you understand that by contributing $10 or more to our campaign, you will not be buying a chance to win anything, BUT, you will be added to our email list and you will be part of the very next promotion we offer (the weekend after this campaign is over).
If you are interested in helping in any of these ways, please contact me directly at Jennifer@ncpraline.com.
What You Can Expect
Your support is priceless, and so is the privacy of your email address and facebook information. We will not share email addresses. I do anticipate email correspondence to be heightened during this campaign, so I'd like to be clear that after the campaign is complete, our e-mail newsletters will go back to normal (1 every few months).
How tuned in do you want to be?
Our perks are designed as milestone donations, but you may not want to donate a predetermined amount. You will have the option to donate an amount of your choice, with or without perks, and to remain anonymous if you choose.
I'm also aware that many people will not share their credit card information online (yes, Dad, I'm talking about you). If you want to contribute to our campaign but would rather send it the old fashioned way, you can make your check payable to Lorelines and include Project Warehouse in the subject line. If you do send a check, please be sure to include your contact information so I can acknowledge receipt. You'll still be eligible for all of the perks and the additional promotions, provided I know how to get in touch with you and your check is received before campaign close. Mail checks to: Lorelines, 152 Pine Road, Hurdle Mills, NC 27541, Attn: Jennifer Lemmons
This is an exciting venture for Lorelines. We are proud of our mission, we are proud of our business and family values, and we are proud that we have such a supportive group of individuals and businesses that are behind us!
Thank you for your support and being part of our success!
