Hi, My name is Mike Giese and I am 21 years old. I am a dedicated full time student in my second year at Denver Metro University in Denver Colorado, earning my Bachelors Degree in Industrial Design. Although this is not why I am here typing this now..
I am a Professional Motocross Racer whose grown humble and dedicated through the sport, riding and racing since I was 8 years old. Racing is my life, my love, my dream and my job. I have been racing the AMA Outdoor Pro Motocross Championship Series every summer since I turned pro at 17. Last year was my best year to date, and after all of my hard work, I believe this year will be even better! With your help, this dream to be competitive in the entire series as a consistent top 20 finisher could be a reality!
The AMA Outdoor Pro Motocross Championships is a 12 race series stretching from Sacramento, CA to Southwick, MA and just about everywhere in between. Racing the AMA Pro Series as a privateer (someone who does not receive a paycheck and participates without any team backing) is one of the hardest things that can be done in the sport. Going up against the best riders in the world that are on the best equipment and are backed by multi-million dollar companies is a challenge, a challenge that I am excited to face!
My Campaign here is simply to raise money, gain sponsors, and create partnerships that will help fund the process of getting me to each and every race and to chase my dream! The opportunity to race every round is something very few privateers get the chance to do, and it will help to open doors, furthering my dream. With the partnerships we create through your donations and sponsorships, this dream could become a reality.
My Fundraising goal is to raise $5000 by the first round of the series, which is May 18th 2013 in Sacramento California. Your donations will go directly to the most expensive part of racing the entire series: travel. $2500 will go toward my bike transportation (Team Gus - Privateer bike transportation). The other $2500 will go toward airline tickets to and from the races every weekend (which is essential in order for me to continue my education here in Colorado). Of course, expenses do not stop there. EVERY penny and EVERY donation above my fundraising goal will strictly go toward the expenses of being a pro Motocross racer and privateer. Additional expenses include: hotel rooms, gas, race entry fees, bike parts, gear and everything else that contributes to succeeding as a top-of-the-line racer! For example, the cost in 2012 to purchase and build my race bike was over $10,000, and plane tickets and race entries cost were over double that amount. Just last year, my father and I spent over $35,000 in expenses in order to complete 9 of the 12 races.
If my $5000 goal is not reached, I will still try and complete the series with the funds that my financial budget allows, along with the money from you generous donors. I have carefully created the perks in this campaign to get people as excited as I am about this summer! This is a cool, one of a kind, way for you to get involved with the sport I fell in love with at a young age and also a great way to help an underdog have a fighting chance. Most importantly I am truly excited to create lasting friendships and memories that I know this campaign will bring me. It will be a most humbling experience, and I look forward to shaking hands with every donor and continuing a friendship long after this year's 2013 Outdoor National Series. Be sure to check out each perk as I think there is something for anyone who is interested.
Your Contribution is very valuable and greatly appreciated! Depending on the perk you purchase, your company's logo will be seen on my bike, helmet, jersey, trailer, or banner by a mass number of people every weekend at the races. At each Pro Motocross Event, there are 25,000+ in attendance, and each race is featured LIVE on TV. With all 12 events, that is some mega advertising to a WIDE range of people for a very reasonably priced donation!
Sponsors who have spots on my bike generate a bigger consumer base in selling their products and create a higher interest in the company itself. My bike and I could be YOUR moving billboard that goes from state to state, seen by THOUSANDS of people!
Other Ways you could help!
If donation isn't in your Chinese fortune cookie, there are other ways you could help! Just spreading the word about my campaign and its cause helps tremendously!!! Whether it's telling someone to check it out, emailing it to someone, or posting the link to my campaign on your Facebook, it all makes a big difference. Also Indiegogo has some awesome share tools that you can get crazy with! So please get out and MAKE SOME NOISE about Mike Giese's "Project 765: Fundraising The Dream"!
