Im Fabrizio Schiavi, Im a graphic designer and I design ergonomic typefaces.
The most ergonomic one I made so far is PragmataPro, the font family designed to replace all the uncomfortable monospaced fonts I used to use for coding my websites.
PragmataPro is my most ambitious project to date: compared to Pragmata (available in Regular only) its a family of four weights (Regular, Bold, Italic and BoldItalic) and for every weight I want to design and hand hint about 2000 letters and symbols for math and programming in the Latin (western, eastern), Cyrillic, Greek and Hebrew scripts, for APL and LaTex programming.
What I Need & What You GetAs you may figure, this is an enormous undertaking for only one person. In fact it took me four years to release the beta version (0.8) now available. Now I ask you to support this fantastic project: my aim is to reach an amount that would be enough to redeem all the necessary time and work to evolve it. I estimated this amount in $220,000: the 13% will go to fees, the 43% in Italian taxes and the 44% is the clean amount for the project. Incredible but true
With $96,000 I can design for 800 days and Im sure to done the project.
If the amount is be reached I will change the license of use to an open source license (Creative Commons CC BY), and the typeface will be available for free.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: In case the campaign does not reach the objective, I will offer to every contributors the regular license of PragmataPro at 20 (instead of 170) also if the contributor donate also just $1 only. At the end of this campaign every contributors can claims this offer. But please dont offer anonymously if you want this discount.
Please consider suggesting to your friends and colleagues doing this: this font really helps programmers to work in more comfortable conditions. Many customers gave me feedback like this: Just writing to send greetings from my eyes. They thank you every day!"
Are you reliable?
I'm at the 50% of the work with PragmataPro, anyone can realize it just by looking at the screenshots. If I wanted to escape with the loot I would not be so stupid to draw about more than 1600 glyphs spending 4 years of my life.
Revenue from sales of licenses are not sufficient to cover even 10% of the time I used to arrive here.
Then came the piracy that has stopped the sales.
My dream is to finish this project getting the appropriate reward for my hard work. Am I wrong to dream this?
Why IndieGoGo and not Kickstarter?
Because Kickstarter now is for U.S. citizens only http://www.kickstarter.com/help/faq/creating%20a%20project#StarAProj
I dislike the "no money back" policy of IndieGoGo and for this I offer you rich perks.
43% of Italian Taxes? Are you joking?
Unfortunately no: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_rates_around_the_world
Why 4+4 years of hard work?
I prepared a short movie, I hope it can help to understand what I do
