Thanks for checking out our PortFringe campaign!
Here's the low-down:
What is PortFringe?
PortFringe is a week-long “fringe” theater festival in Portland’s downtown arts district that supports theater and performance artists, encourages artistic innovation, and provides an accessible, affordable outlet for exciting work that enriches Maine's creative community.
We love originality and collaboration, coupled with weird and DIY-style performance, that makes PortFringe like no other experience around. We hope you are inspired by our rambunctious raccoon mascot, Flome (and pal KittyShark) to contribute to this incredible experience that is fast becoming a Portland institution!
Now in its second year, PortFringe is an open-access, non-juried theater festival in which participants are chosen by a random lottery. There are no production fees for participants and 100% of ticket sales are returned to the performance artist or company.
The 2013 festival line-up, announced last month at Geno's Rock Club, includes over 50 productions representing over 350 individual performers, designers, playwrights, and other theater artists from Maine and beyond.
This second annual PortFringe will take place at 4 downtown performance venues (SPACE Gallery, Geno's, Portland Stage Company's studio theater, and the Portland Stage storefront) from June 26-30, 2013. Five days jam packed with comedy, tragedy, and lots of oddity.
If I donate money, what will it pay for?
Your generous contribution will help pay for venue rentals, box office and ticketing costs, programs, insurance, marketing materials, and super-fun, celebratory events. PortFringe is an entirely volunteer labor of love, but we need your help to succeed. Again, we ask our community for these funds so that all profits from ticket sales can go straight back to PortFringe artists.
This festival sounds awesome! How can I learn more?
See our full schedule and get more information at portfringe.com. We hope to see you in the audience this June!
