Please help Weaver D's keep his doors open!

    According to the Athens Banner Herald, "Weaver has been running the soul food restaurant at the end of East Broad Street and on the edge of the North Oconee River for more than 25 years. One of his mottoes, “Automatic for the People,” became the title of alternative rock band R.E.M.’s 1992 multi-platinum album.

In 2007, the New York-based James Beard Foundation named it an American Classic, a designation it gives to small restaurants that offer “good, down-home food” and “unmatched hospitality.”

But since a financial high point in 2009, Weaver said the final notices and warnings of imminent shut off started showing up."

Weaver needs $4000 to pay his past due gas bill and rent.
