Bless your souls, we've reached our goal!! Thank you to all our family, friends, friends o' friends, and beautiful strangers.
We have 3 days left - and if you are considering helping us on our way, theres still time and need! Fine print y'all, oops! - we need to raise $225 past our goal to fully pay Indiegogo 5% of our funds raised. $177 left to go
Again, we've got hearts full of gratitude today. Can't wait to tell all of you tales from the permaculture front!
We are active foodies and aspiring farmers from North Carolina, currently living in Austin, Texas. We have spent the last few years getting our hands dirty and ideas spinning, from becoming a part of a garden project with some of our best friends at Four Sisters' Farm in Hillsborough, NC, to a summer on the incredible Ferme du Jointout in Torpes, France. We know we want to have a future farming and the next step is for us to continue our education. With your help, we will attend the Bullock's Permaculture Homestead's internationally accredited Permaculture Design Course located in Washington. This is a 2.5-week course with 144 hours of classroom and hands-on learning. We will come out of the course perma-certified and further along the path to creating our future in organic food production.
Permaculture is a creative, holistic design system used to create sustainable food production. It is a combination of the words permanent and agriculture. The word agriculture comes from agre; field and cultura; tillage of the soil....Hence, permaculture aims to till the same soil permanently. It is a facilitation and appreciation of the harmonious relationships between every element in an ecosystem; including humans! A few of its broadest and simplest goals are: to create a balanced input and output of energy, to produce a high yield in a little space, to increase biodiversity, and to reuse/recycle water.
We know we still have a lot to learn, but this will get us a little closer. Permaculture is one of the most exciting movements in today's food revolution and we want to share this with other people. Not only do we want to learn these skills to implement on our future land, we want to be able to help our friends and family plan their gardens, we want to be able to practice permaculture in our everyday lives, and we want to be proponents and educators. Eventually we hope to initiate and be a part of a permanent homestead and small-scale production farm. When we do, you can come visit us anytime you want!
What We Need
Our fundraising goal is to cover the cost of combined tuition for both of us - $4,000
The additional $500 is to cover driving from texas to washington in Wayne, a 1992 toyota camry - gas, food, campsites, etc .
Anything we raise above that will offset the percentage we pay indiegogo once the funds come in...
Anything we raise above THAT will go into our savings account toward buying other important things in the future, like....land, goats, tractors, interns, etc.
What You Get
We love you. We might love you a tiny bit more.
We also have some delicious and enticing perks below.
