You are probably asking what hard times have to do with soft pretzels. EVERYTHING.
Joblessness leads to homelessness. There are more than 400 homeless school age children in our county because their moms and dads are out of work. What these homeless families need more than housing is pretzels.
We will teach those in our program how to make pretzels and provide them with the skills and certification to get a job in the food service industry, the third fastest growing occupation in Florida. We need startup funds to buy the carts, the equipment and teaching supplies. Pretzels require little capital investment, have a large profit margin and are in great demand in our tourist town, St. Augustine, Florida. St. Augustine has 7 million visitors annually, each potential customers for our pretzel business. For those in the program, the pretzel is more than dough; it’s a passport to a better life.
