Our Story
A film about paramedics, by a paramedic. Award-winning filmmaker Benjamin Gilmour takes us into the secret lives of four paramedics in four diverse locations in the world; Mexico, Pakistan, Hawaii and Venice, promising to give us an entertaining, shocking and funny film. Gilmour's unique access has allowed him to unmask the 'hero', and reveal the quirky and wild world of paramedics behind the scenes in his new book Paramedico - Around the World by Ambulance. This film, in conjunction with the book, will bring his characters to life on screen.
The Impact
Paramedics have been long misunderstood and largely misrepresented. In Paramedico the documentary we see these men and women for who they really are; ordinary people doing an extraordinary job, struggling like any of us would with the pain, and making as much fun as possible in order to counter the suffering they face. With Paramedico Gilmour hopes that by seeing paramedics as only human we may realise that most of us also have the capability to live heroically.
What We Need & What You Get
Paramedico has so far been funded by filmmakers Benjamin Gilmour and Alison Croft themselves and although the film has largely been shot, we have quite frankly run out of money in plain view of the finish line. Without the additional amount this campaign hopes to raise, Paramedico will remain unmade. Your contribution will go directly into the post-production, specifically; translations, hire of the edit suite, wages of our editor, colour grade, sound and music rights.
