Hi, I'm Lizzie Karr and Paper Cup is my music project. In collaboration with a cellist, a drummer, a couple of singers and a fantastic producer/engineer, I have just arranged and recorded my first full length album, "Bones". With a lot of hard work, the team was able to record 14 songs in only 7 days.
I wrote the songs on "Bones" over the last nine years, and have carefully selected them from over a hundred compositions. These songs have evolved through several collaborations with different musicians, many of whom are featured on the recordings. We have passionately hashed each song out in rehearsal and in the studio. When I remember how these songs sounded at their humble beginnings, I am amazed by the sound that the musicians and I have collectively created.
Some people might say my genre is folk/rock/Americana. I try to challenge myself to make each song different from the last. The record includes a range of sounds and emotions. Each time I play one of the songs for someone, I feel that I've only shared a small piece of the puzzle.
You can help us make a kick. ass. album.
What We Need & What You Get
It takes a village! We've already had all kinds of contributors to "Bones" from hours of hard work to cookies baked by my mother to keep everyone going.
Our total project budget is $9,000. Of that budget, $4,000 has already gone towards paying musicians for rehearsals and studio time, paying to rent the studio for seven days, and paying the engineer.
Now, we need money for:
MIXING. This is the editing process where we pick all the best takes and make sure each instrument can be heard.
MASTERING. This process puts the final polish on the tracks to make them sound AWESOME, and finalizes the CD for duplication.
LAYOUT AND PRINTING. My dear friend Jason Bahling is giving me a killer deal to lay out the credits, photos, and beautiful artwork by my Aunt Mary Ellen Deckert which will be used as the basis for the cover artwork. Then we'll send it off to Discmakers for cd duplication and printing.
We're only asking for $3,000 of the remaining $5,000 budget, but if we raise more than that it will keep me out of credit card debt! If we exceed $5,000, then we can do some fun things like print t-shirts and make a music video.
Spread the Good Word!
Tell your people! Encourage them to pre-order the album!
We will blow you a whole lotta kisses, wherever in the world you may be :)
The official album release party is scheduled for early July in San Francisco, during the week of my 28th birthday. Ten whole years since I picked up the guitar and started writing songs. We hope you'll come celebrate with us!
