Bike touring down Planet of the Apes
First and foremost we want to thank everyone who has donated thus far, This update would not be possible without you!
We have so far been able to use funding to get Patricia some really nice pellet(Roudybush maintenance) diet that we could not afford before.
A check up with the avian specialist (Looking great!,but suggested above pellet diet in addition to all the fresh fruits/vegs already being used)
Some new ceramic bowls
Some new toe clip for Popi’s freecycled bike shoes
We acquired the domain “PDBird.com” to make our site that much more official.
And we had our IT guy even upgrade the blog with a popular post widget,so you can see some of my past adventures.
All of this has been amazing and because of you,PDBird fans!
As far as the bike goes, we ride a cyclocross Novara “Element”
It is only a “double” chainring and not really built for bike touring,but we have made it work in the past and are not gonna let that stop us from bike tour 2013. Right now to at least upgrade that bike is gonna cost us about 400-500(new tires,new brakes,new rims,cables,ect) Obviously if we got the money we would love to upgrade to a steel framed bike that we could use for thew next 10-20 years. But we are gonna work with whatever we get. Right now we plan on putting a front basket on the front of whatever bike we tour on. In this basket will be perches and food water for pdbird. If we raise our funding limit,this basket would also be pd’s live internet office,where once a day or so she could go live on ustream or something and do a live show from the road! The people,the foods,the adventures. This could be while we are riding if we can make the bike a WiFI hot spot. If not,we will simply take pictures and post weeks after like we did in bike tour 2012.
We are also in the final stages of getting the design for the “Super Hyphy Velo Parrot” T-shirts and hope to post a picture here this week.
