Overwatch is the next generation in interactive and social gaming. Now, all of the technology gamers love from combat video games is available in real life, right on a smartphone—Live GPS Radar, Bluetooth Voice Chat, and In-Game Perks. The games of airsoft, paintball, and laser tag just became a whole lot more tactical. Now it's not just game time. It's game time for real.
SEE IT IN ACTION:
Overwatch is not just another smartphone game, it is a tactical utility to enhance airsoft, paintball, and laser tag gameplay. Instead of being distracted from your game by trying to play through your smartphone like a Head-up Display, Overwatch provides vital game information at a glance—just like a radar does in combat video games. Here's a glance at the features and design:
What devices will be able to run the Overwatch app?
There are two Overwatch mount styles to fit how you play.
The app uses a WiFi or 3G/4G/LTE connection to transmit and receive streaming GPS data. This provides the near real-time location tracking for the in-game radar. Instead of using a bluetooth connection for voice chat, a data transmission is used. This allows multiple devices on a team to communicate without a 30-foot range limitation, and to ensure that devices with different operating systems can communicate. While the device-to-device connection is not bluetooth, a user can connect a bluetooth headset instead of using the default speakerphone interface.

Overwatch team at ARK Challenge Demo Day
Overwatch has had a meteoric rise in the past 7 months. The Overwatch app was brought to life when the the team entered a startup business accelerator in Northwest Arkansas called The ARK Challenge. Chosen from a pool of over 90 different companies from 15 different states and 15 different countries, Overwatch began work in June of 2013. Just 14 weeks later, a polished prototype was finished. With incredible progress made, the team continued to push, eventually securing $170,000 of investment to continue app development. Overwatch recently partnered with Cybergun, the largest airsoft company in the world. Through this strategic partnership, Overwatch will now have access to retail stores by early next year, but only if backers show support and help fund the project to completion. With the app ready for beta-testing and the hardware in version two of prototyping, the final push to completion will be swift and shows great promise.
"We believe Overwatch will finally bridge the gap between physical and digital gaming, and we can't wait to get it into the hands of gamers. We feel Indiegogo is the best place for us to plant the seeds of the Overwatch community. With strong backers and the money from our Indiegogo campaign, we will be able to deliver a truly incredible product. Thank you to all who have supported us along the way, and especially to those who will help see us through to completion. We can't do this without you!"
