Short Summary
Our second son Caden was born in June 2012. While in the hospital the doctors discovered he had a heart murmur. We were referred to a cardiologist where we learned he had a coarctation (narrowing of the aorta artery) and a bicuspid valve. Caden is a happy 4 month old, however on October 29, 2012 he will be having open heart surgery. When we hold him and he smiles at us it breaks our hearts knowing that he has no idea what's about to happen to him.
My wife exhausted nearly all of her vacation and all of her Family Medical Leave during her maternity leave. She will be taking up to six weeks off work with no pay to be with Caden while he is in the hosptial and recovering at home.
I own a small retail business and am the sole employee. The store just had it's year anniversary and is barely covering expenses. If I take time off I will have to close the store and forfeit any income. It's a comic book and game store and it is my passion, my dream. I have a few friends who help me out form time to time, but they have fulltime jobs themselves. If I close the store I will not have money coming in and the store still has bills and debt.
I am hoping to raise money to support my family and maintain my business while Caden has surgery and is recovering. My son is more important to me than my business; however, I would prefer to keep my store open. I have imagined my sons growing up with the store in their lives. I want to keep my business open and continue living the dream.
We are in a tough position.
If you choose to help us I can offer comic related incentives for those who donate. We will be eternally grateful.
Thank you in advance for your support!
