Increasing the Value of Digital Publishing for All

For instance, why should distributing books, newspapers, and magazines in their digital forms preclude their physical consumption in paper form?  Why can't blue-prints and technical drawings, or choral music and sheet music, screen-plays, curricula or other text-based works-of-art also leverage the Internet and digital distribution, while still permitting them to be consumed on paper?

The Limits of Copyrights

The problem lies in the attempts to apply traditional copyright law to the modern technologies of today's digital world.  That's why makers of DVD players, tablets, and eReaders; as well as aggregators of eBooks, videos, and music are so profitable.  They have control over the creators and consumers of digital content.  Their closed, digital-rights-managed systems and proprietary formats enable them to leverage the complexities of intellectual property law.  This permits them to constrain access to, and regulate use of, digitally distributed works-of-art, which gives them undue advantage.  Removing their barriers and controls enables content creators and consumers to prosper.

Using an innovation we call "micro-licensing" in the "open-publishing-platform" we're creating; artists, authors, educators, journalists, composers, technical writers, architects, and many other creators can offer far more value to vastly more patrons and readers, while still securing their works-of-art.

Flexibly, Safely, and Lucratively Distribute Your Digital Works

As an example, with this solution, you can easily license digital, text-based works-of-art in multiple ways to best address the needs and wants of even more patrons, readers, and consumers. 

Instead of just using "all rights reserved" copyright terms, you can add "some rights reserved" terms or "more rights reserved" terms that are common under intellectual property practices.  This benefits you and consumers because you can offer your works for different uses with each use having its own price, thereby attracting different types of users for your works.  Repurposing is very valuable.

One of the many reasons an open-publishing-platform hasn't been offered until now is the difficulty in developing the unique Internet shopping cart system needed to process intellectual property licenses.  The legal and technical requirements are very complex and challenging, unlike anything provided by the PayPals, Googles, and Amazons of the world. 

Therefore, we had to develop our own shopping cart system for this platform, and it's nearly ready for the open-source software community.  But we need your help to finish the open-publishing-platform and micro-licensing shopping cart solution so it's usable as open-source software. 

Banks are requiring us to add their payment gateway software to the solution, and to process debit and credit card payments for a few months.  This means we have to pay for specialized programming services, which is where your assistance is vital.

With your help, we will add an international bank's payment gateway software to the publishing-platform and micro-licensing shopping cart.  Adding the first bank makes it easier, and less costly, to include other banks' payment gateways to the solution in the future, which is our intent.
