Open Mic Night After The Apocalypse

A music festival at the last free place in America.

Our Story

HAPPENING FEBRUARY 25th 2012 in SLAB CITY

*Bus to Slab City leaves Los Angeles Saturday morning not Friday morning.

"Open Mic Night After The Apocalypse" is a first time music festival that will take place in Slab City next to the Salton Sea. Slab City features a strangely beautiful stage created by salvaged materials and two abandoned buses named "The Range". The Range will host this unique experience where six emerging LA-based bands will journey out to the desert with their music and their fans following close behind to play a historic show. Manhattan Murder Mystery, Stab City, Seasons, Judson McKinney, The Mo-Odds, Mama's Joy and Paul Prado Animal Raps will perform to this weird cauldron of Slabbers, scenesters, travelers, mystics and music lovers. The entire festival will be captured on camera for a feature film accurately titled "Open Mic Night After The Apocalypse".

The Impact

The Range has been a staple of life at Slab City for almost a decade now. It's existence and future is dependent on the contributions of benefactors that have experienced the wild magic of this stage. For the music to continue at Slab City they are desperately in need of a new generator and parts of the stage to be fixed. The collaboration between the good people of Slab City and the "Open Mic Night" project will enable The Range to continue on.
