HOW IT WORKS

Donating just $2 will pay for the planting of one new tree in Bore.

After admin costs, the school get all the money for each tree they plant and they use this money to build new classrooms which the children desperately need. For every 1000 trees they plant, the community can afford to pay for one new classroom – and they need five.

So as well as removing harmful CO2 from the air, every single tree helps build a class room and will soon provide a cash crop, an on-going revenue stream for the community through the sale of fruits, nuts and seeds. This money will then be funnelled back into the school and other community projects.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

One Tree, One Child, One Planet is a collaborative project between Community Carbon Link Lampeter/Bore, Size of Wales and the Great Primate Handshake.

Over 300 children go to school in Kundeni, learning as best they can in dilapidated classrooms which are sweltering in the summer and let water in during the rainy season. The local people can’t afford the new classrooms they so desperately need – unless we help them find the funds.

The Great Primate Handshake has worked with Kundeni Primary School and the surrounding community in Bore since 2009 to support their reforestation efforts. This new project is already profoundly affecting the villager’s lives in many positive ways, as the Great Primate Handshake has documented in another short film viewable in the gallery section.

WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES

Each and every donation will lead to trees being planted; which in turn lead to new classrooms and new opportunities for community of Bore.

It costs around $2000 dollars to build each classroom. This includes all materials, labour and seed stocks for new trees to enable to school to sustainably fund itself into the future.

A film will be produced covering the new construction at the school so you can see how your donations are transforming the Kundeni Primary School.

PERFECT GIFT IDEAS

We have broken down our Perks into some great tree planting packages (that make great gifts) – see the breakdown to the right to see what they include.

Have a longer lasting impact and get your name on the wall of the classroom for a $100 donation – this is enough to plant 50 trees, making a significant impact on the villager’s lives. Or go all out and have a classroom named after you and a video thank you message from the entire school, $1000 will also plant a massive 500 trees.
