ONE BILLION RISING – PHOENIX EVENT
What does ONE BILLION RISING look like?
On February 14, 2013 it will look like a REVOLUTION!
On V-Day, we are inviting Arizona women and those who love them, to WALK OUT, RISE UP, DANCE and DEMAND an end to violence against women and girls.
One in three women on the planet (a UN statistic) will be beaten or raped in her lifetime and this global epidemic is a human rights tragedy and must end! In Phoenix, we are joining with 177 countries and hundreds of cities across the U.S. to bring awareness in our community: ending violence against women is the #1 priority on planet earth. ONE BILLION RISING PHOENIX gives our community the opportunity to spread the word about these worldwide injustices…and DANCE! There will be much DANCING!
V-DAY and ONE BILLION RISING are the creations of EVE ENSLER, playwright, performer and activist. Eve Ensler is the author of THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES, which has been performed in 44 languages in 140 countries and raises awareness of the urgent need to end violence against women.
