Give now to our 2012 end of the year fundraising drive for Sandy relief!
Over the last few years, and driven by an amazing array of people, the New York City technology sector (i.e., technology companies as well as digital media, interactive agencies, VCs, and startups, along with various professional service firms that work with these companies) has "blown up." New York is now a legitimate tech capital. Sandy has delivered a serious blow to our home city - the city where we've chosen to build, code, and grow our businesses.
As proven by the tremendous collaboration and grassroots cooperation across different people and organizations in the wake Sandy, we are a resilient city and we, the NY tech community, now must step up to help lead and drive the recovery. NYC has given us much -- we now must give back.
Your 100% tax deductible gift to the #NYTechResponds Sandy Benefit Campaign will go to a basket of charities providing first line, on the ground relief for those most impacted by Sandy. The money we raise will be processed through the United Way, who will disperse the money to charities including the Red Cross (for direct Sandy relief efforts), the Mayor's Fund, the River Fund as well as hyperlocal charities (e.g., The Gray Beards, OccupySandy).
We also strongly encourage you to share this campaign with your friends and colleagues via social media. You may also want to create a team to work together to get more donations. We ESPECIALLY ENCOURAGE friendly competition among the various NYC tech companies and start-ups as to which companies can generate the most money for Sandy relief.
Note: NYTechResponds will be donating 20% of proceeds from our End of Year Giving Campaign to the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City in support of hurricane relief efforts. The Mayor’s Fund retains no administrative fee, and one hundred percent of donations are being dispersed to relief efforts and organizations. Funds will support immediate aid needs – including, food, cleaning materials and hygiene supplies – as well as long-term relief and restoration.
