NOVR Trailer (Our First Film)
If you watched the video you've just seen the trailer for our first film NOVR currently in 14 film festivals around the world. Along with many award nominations it is the winner of Best Sci-Fi at Atlanta ShortsFest, Best VFX at the Thriller Chiller International Film Festival, Excellence in Directing International Film Festival Cinematic Arts LA and Second Place for Best Sci-Fi at the ShockerFest International Film Festival.
Based off of the amazing success of our first independent Australian short film 'NOVR', we are launching the campaign for our second short film 'NOVR : Blood and Steel'. The series of three films is aimed at attracting the attention of investors for a feature film or television series.
A high quality blockbuster feel on a tiny budget, NOVR is the work of three best mates who wrote an action packed feature film script and knew they didn't have the money to get it made. Instead, they wrote a series of short films based off the feature script that could show off what could be done with some balsa wood, super glue, a little imagination and a great team.
With only $10,000 (self funded), a Canon 5D and a laptop we produced 'NOVR'. 'NOVR' is now in 14 Film Festivals around the world and is about to be released online to the public.
We need your help to fund the next one.
We are also offering you the chance to see the first film 'NOVR' and then 'NOVR : Blood and Steel' before the rest of the world via digital download as one of the perks of our campaign.
Please note we chose to host the campaign on indiegogo in US Dollars (AUD not available) because out of the crowd funding sites they take the least amount of money in commission. This allows us to further the film not the hosting company. The difference in price will usually be somewhere between 0.70 AUD and 1.00 AUD as of 25/09/13.
In the not too distant future an orphan girl is born with an amazing ability that might hold the key to humanity’s survival against an unstoppable alien threat.
Hidden away from the outside world by her foster father she must decide to risk death fighting the invaders – or be killed by those she is trying to save. The NOVR universe puts characters with complex relationships and backgrounds into the high pressure environment of war. The thing that makes our super human storyline different from others is that at the same time the child's abilities are her most crucial flaw. Using her powers will kill her - not using her powers could mean humanities extinction. Her unexpected guardians and surrogate family a drunken soldier and a confused religious zealot must protect her both from the invading alien fleet and the remnants of the desperate human armed forces while they fight their own internal battles.

What We Need
$20,000 dollars is what we need but hey, we're resourceful chaps. We don't expect you, the generous public, to fund the whole thing (although if you are feeling generous please don't hold back).
We learnt a lot with NOVR and we are using that knowledge to better 'Blood and Steel'. The great thing is having completed the first film we know exactly what we need for the second and how much it will cost.
Our motto is to use as many physical effects as possible and only use visual computer generated effects afterwards to enhance the scene. This way we reduce lengthy post production times and also have a more realistic look to the film.
This is the reason a lot of our budget will go towards the art department, costuming, spectacular locations and talented, up-and-coming Australian actors.
$2500 - Location fees for two locations (including insurance costs i.e. public liability)
$4000 - Towards professional actors fees for lead parts.
$7000 - Art department, costuming and set (including professional film armourer, costs for weapons and physical effects work and also Alien and Marine costume upgrade)
$5000 - Post production work (includes digital effects costs, soundtrack work and audio post production)
$1000 - Ancillary specialty gear hire and lighting
$500 - Indiegogo campaign fee and slush fund (because there's always something you've missed)
This is our basic budget - the bare minimum we need to get the film finished. We will also be seeking funding from both local and national government funding sources and independent sources to make up any shortfall.
Any money you could spare toward our campaign would provide a tremendous boost to the careers of not only the film makers, but the cast and crew of young and upcoming talent. It will not be wasted a film will be made out of these funds. Our biggest goal is to develop a culture of film making locally in Australia using Australian talent both cast and crew. Films that are not only critically popular but also economically viable.
