NFCeek.com has created a real world near field communication (NFC) outdoor based adventure game. We are showcasing the cool and diverse things that can be done with NFC by creating a geocaching meets scavenger hunt game.
By creating a fun game for users, that requires an NFC enabled phone, players will interact with locations like never before while having a great family oriented adventure. This is how you play a game WITH your Smartphone, not ON your Smartphone.
The goal of our campaign is to raise at least $ 7,500.00 USD to help us deploy a minimum of 25 games across the United States. Each Near Field Communication game set is made up of 4 individual NFC enabled stickers; we call them Gamekeys, that are encoded with the Latitude and Longitude of the next location for the game. You set them up on our game dashboard and then active the game for people to play.
How do you Play?
Players find the location of the first Keystage when they choose the game to play. Our game requires an NFC enabled Smartphone because once the player is at the first location they 'Tap' the NFC enabled Keytag to retrieve the next location.
Each completed game earns a Keypoint, These Keypoints are needed to earn Keybadges. The Keybadges are your levels from White Belt all the way up to a Black Belt. You can also earn Keymaster Points for every game that you setup and work your way up to the ultimate Keymaster position.
What will we do with the Money?
We expect that the cost of running this campaign, buying supplies, and giving rewards will cost us approximately 30% of the total amount raised. That leaves $5250.00 for us to purchase Taskrabbits for game placement. We expect that the Taskrabbits will cost us almost $200.00 average cost for each game that is deployed based on the cost of services that we have seen researching this.
We will purchase as many placements as we can with any amount raised or exceeding the campaign limit. We will use up to 10% of any amount in excess of our campaign set amount to cover weird or unexpected costs (Like if we max bandwidth out our provider because of response, or stuff like that)
Taskrabbit? What's that?
Taskrabbit.com is a service that allows you to hire a person to perform small tasks for you. We are based in Pittsburgh, PA area so we can place games in our area of the Country, but in order for the game to have value it needs to be available in more than just our region. Taskrabbits are available in 10 major cities around the county, including a few places where we don't know anyone.
Why not just wait for people to buy games?
We are currently finishing up our alpha of the product. Launching our Indiegogo campaign is the start of our Beta. While we have some friends around the country, we still need to have games for people to play in as many places as possible. Also, this will help ensure that we will have as many games to choose from once we are Live.
What do I get for helping?
We are offering a number of unique 'Thank You' perks for helping us out. Get a single special edition Keystone NFC sticker for just a $ 10.00 donation all the way to a low number special game set and a Keystone Contributor T-Shirt for $ 105.00. And, you will be listed on the Keystone 'Thank You' page on our website for your contribution level
Can I help without donating money?
YES! If you are willing to donate your time to setup a game for us we would grateful. This game would be classified as an in-house game. That means that you would not get the benefits of the game dashboard that Keymasters get, BUT you would be allowed to name the game and be listed as the creator. Note: You must have an NFC enabled phone, or a GPS device, and be willing to place and record the Latitude and Longitude of each game piece for that game for us!
Your help with our campaign will give us a real leg up on getting the word out about Near Field Communication for Smartphones. We think this is an awesome technology! It allows you to have real world items, 'tagged' with NFC, linked to online information. This is one of the neatest additions to current generation Smartphones and we hope our NFC game and this campaign can help spread interest and education about the technology.
