Who We Are
NCSU's EcoCAR2 team is a multi-disciplinary team made up of students from North Carolina State University competing in EcoCAR2: Plugging into the Future. The team is run like a small business, we design and build a vehicle, but also have to manage the team and market the vehicle. More information about the team can be found at our website:
or on our Facebook page:
The competitions website is:
The NCSU EcoCAR 2 team is looking to raise enough money to fund a Mechanical Engineering Capstone Design class next semester. This last semester the Senior Design class was a huge success. Through the class we had a battery installation tool, engine bay mounts, and quieter exhaust system designed and built. You can read more about the previous Senior Design class at our blog:
This next semester we are looking to have Senior design classes work on the fuel system, the cooling system, suspension, and engine control.
We will have a news report about us on News 14 Carolina based out of Charlotte on December 16th.
What We Need & What You Get
In order to host a Senior Design class we need to raise $10,000. This money goes to support the class who will need to purchase parts and services. At the end of the semester there is a competition with the winning team receiving $100 per student, 2nd place winning $50, and 3rd winning $25.
This is a good oportunity for business's looking to get their name out in the community. We are very active amongst the middle and high schools of North Carolina and attend a lot of green energy events that happen in the Raleigh area. Sponsorship will also expose your company to industry leaders and government agencies like GM, ANL, Department of Energy, Freescale, dSPACE, The Mathworks, and others.
We have several offerings to reward our supporters ranging from recongnition on our website to actually being a judge at the final competition or having your logo placed upon the vehicle.
If we do not reach our goal of $10,000 there are two options we may follow depending on how close we are to reaching our goal. If we are close to $10,000 we will cover the difference with our budget, but if the gap is too large the money will go into our budget and be used on components we need to finish the vehicle.
From the EcoCAR2 website:
"The competition's mission is a vital one: offer an unparalleled hands-on, real-world experience to educate the next generation of automotive engineers. The competition challenges 15 universities across North America to reduce the environmental impact of a Chevrolet Malibu without compromising performance, safety and consumer acceptability."
This is the second AVTC or Advanced Vehicle Technology Competition that NC State University has participated in. We are one of the smaller teams and any contribution will help.
