Located in an alleyway on the border between Chinatown and Tribeca in downtown New York City, resides possibly the worlds’ smallest museum, a home to overlooked modern-day artifacts of humanism and beauty from cultures around the world. 

At the bottom of a defunct elevator shaft-way, in the bowels of what was once a garment factory on lower Broadway, visitors can lose themselves among hundreds of items and their subsequent stories.

Each object is accompanied by a number which directs you to a detailed story that can be found in the museum guide or in the audio guide, accessible through any mobile phone.

Museum has had a successful first year of operation with over thousands of visitors from around the world, including a Brazilian tourist who requested a visit during his 5-hr layover at JFK, Multiple design class pilgrimages, construction workers on lunch breaks and even a very famous family taking refuge in the space while on the run from the paparazzi.

In order to continue providing the people of the world a new way to see and understand the objects around them, we need your help.

As we approach the winter and the next 12 months of Museum's calendar, we’re planning to de-install and install two new complete exhibitions, add climate control, air purification, and a gift shop. We will also host a litany of new performances, readings and demonstrations free and open to the public and the city at large.

The upcoming exhibition will include works and collections from artist Tom Sachs, designer Jim Wolrod, Screw Magazine/Midnight Blue founder, Al Goldstein, Baron Von Fancy’s prison ephemera, Kim Hastreiter’s father’s Ass Pads, Peter Allen’s Fake Vomit from around the world and much more.

Your donation will help us accomplish the upcoming programs and an audio guide as well as secure the space for another year. We’re happy to be working with Fractured Atlas which is a 501(c)3 so all donations are tax-deductible.

Museum is a valuable addition to the downtown community and would not exist without the support of friends like you. With your help, Museum can continue to provide a vibrant cultural experience to its visitors; supporters and strangers alike. We hope you will take the time to view our donor options and gift list and aid us in creating this indispensable institution of curiosity. In order to provide a fuller description of our needs, here is a brief list of improvements we hope to make. In order to continue for a second year we need to raise at least $20,000. 

If we do not raise our goal, the doors of Museum will be shut permanently. The upcoming year is already planned to be an exciting one with at two new exhibitions, as well as a vibrant series of special performances, readings and screenings for the Museum community.

Each new installation is a time intensive process involving extensive labor to create the exact armature for each object. Each item in the Museum collection is measured, fitted and seamlessly mounted to the Museum walls. Then a catalogue number is assigned and the object is entered into the Museum Audio Encyclopedia, whose description is easily retrievable to any visitor by using the toll free Museum hotline. Each object is documented and remains a part of the digital archive, and new museum guides are printed. This process involves the talent and concentration of multiple individuals

In order to safeguard our collection we must install an eco-friendly climate control/de-humidifier. This will insure the safety of our collection during seasonal fluctuations. We will also invest in a waterproofing system for rainy/inclement weather.
