Mr. Lamb

"Mr Lamb" is my NYU-Tisch pre-thesis film that I'll be shooting in late January.

Short Summary

Hi there! My name is Jean, and I am in pre-production for my film, "Mr. Lamb." Here are some things about me...

  • I was born with no sense of smell
  • I was also born without teeth
  • I am from San Francisco
  • Right now, I am studying directing at NYU - Tisch

I don't have much money, and filmmaking is incredibly expensive. Please know this is a one-time thing, and I won't be asking you for money again, for many, many years to come!!

I am so completely grateful for your support, and for taking the time to look at my IndieGoGo page.

I just wanted to explain a little bit about the movie and it's budget....

Mr Lamb is a dark comedy thriller about a lonely woman named, Myrna, who is penpals with a convincted murderer, named Charles Lamb. She is very much infatuated with him, and is both thrilled and scared when she hears of his escape from prison. When Mr. Lamb pays Myrna a visit, things go spiralling into a suspenseful conclusion.

I had always been fascinated by the underworld; by the hard-knock creatures from the seedy underbelly of urban landscapes. I wrote  “crime novels,” even when I was in elementary school. Still today, I’m a total sucker for Raymond Chandler, noirs, and old Warner Brothers gangster movies.  I am also very interested in the complexity and macabre humor of southern gothic literature like Flannery O’Connor, Faulkner, and Capote, and their influence upon storytelling.

With Mr. Lamb, I am hoping to fuse these styles and interests. In my story, we explore a character’s threshold of loneliness, and the margins of her madness.  Using comedy and suspense, I want to explore the themes of loneliness and crime.

Mr. Lamb has the support of NYU’s faculty, which includes award-winning filmmakers such as John Tintori (Eight Men Out, True Love), Todd Solondz (Happiness, Welcome to the Dollhouse), Spike Lee (Do the Right Thing, Inside Man), and Mary Harron (American Psycho, I Short Andy Warhol).

What We Need

Here is a breakdown of what your donations will help pay for...

$970 - TRANSPORTATION This will transport 12-15 people to upstate New York and back, pay for all gas and tolls, and pay for a 1- week rental of a 15 passenger van to drive us to and from our locations. This also includes the cost of a 15ft cube truck to transport equipment to set, and back to New York City.

$2625 - FOOD It costs $25 per person per day to feed the cast and crew (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). This amount feeds 15 people for 7 production days.

$3560 – RED CAMERA PACKAGE I am renting the Red Epic at a highly discounted rate, but still need help paying for it!

$500 GRIP & ELECTRIC This pays for the dolly, silks and flags, gels, lens tissue, gaff tape, duvetyne, silks, abd black wrap.

$1500 - ACCOMODATION This amount pays for motel rooms for our actors, as well as crew members who cannot stay on location, due to cat allergies.

$350 - LOCATION SCOUT I will be driving upstate multiple times to lock down locations, and iron out logistics. With tolls and gas, location scouting will add up!

$300 - COSTUMES Lamb costumes, cop uniforms, and waitressing uniforms!

$1000 – PRODUCTION DESIGN The entire look of the movie falls into this! I have an amazing production deisgn team, and can't wait to work with them!

$500 - SPECIAL FX Without giving away too much about the ending, there are going to be squibs and a special FX gun involved. To make sure everyone is as safe as possible, I need to hire a stunt coordinator, and a Special FX specialist. This can be pricey, fast!

$1500 – POST PRODUCTION Even with student discounts, color correction can run $800 and sound design comes in at $700.

$550 - FILM FESTIVAL SUBMISSIONS We want the film to be seen! Each film festival submission costs about $50. This pays for submission fees, DVD burning, and mailing costs to 10 major festivals.
