MOMS GOT MUSCLE!
They say behind every good woman is a good man, but behind every exceptional woman are her best friends. Back in the 80s, Rayne, along with her best friends, Tobii, Kayla and Jordan had a bond that was stronger than shopping, make up, clothes and boys. It was their passion for muscle cars. Being the class outcast, Rayne is challenged to drag race by the egotistical class jock, Frank. Thinking this can finally be her time to shine, she accepts the challenge. Little did she know her decision that night would bring about a turn of events that set the course of her life.
Fast forward to present day, Rayne, now in her 40s, and a single mom, comes back together with the girls, for the annual high school fundraiser. This year, it's a car show. The weekend will be bringing about issues for Rayne and the girls that they thought were dead and buried. For Rayne, its time to take the wheel, literally, and drive by her own rules.
The subjects of interest arent the younger women of todays
generation, these are the sophisticated, mature women who have been written off
today as over the hill, with no place in the lead in todays movies. This is the
key motivation for Ramona Maramonte, a female filmmaker from the East Bay area.
After being in the entertainment industry for the last 25 years as a performing
artist and filmmaker, it was time to bring to light these two things in the
film industry that seemed to be missing.
After seeing an article in the New York Times in 2007 where a studio executive stated, We are no longer doing movies with women in the lead, it planted a seed within Ramona that has grown and is now flourishing in the movie that she is putting into production Moms Got Muscle. Her mission, in her own words, I will make my own film. I will start my own production company and I will make sure, no matter how big or small, that any project I work on, will have strong female characters in all walks of life, in all ages, shapes, size and color. In a time where my two daughters are subject to media where Snookie from Jersey Shore is an icon, I think we can have our "Snookies", there just needs to be a better balance of how women are portrayed in media.
Ramonas credits include the Bay Area production of SOLEDAD IS GONE FOREVER and appeared in the short DEL CIELO for EAST MEETS WEST PRODUCTIONS, directed by Julie Rubio and also helped cast on the production of OAKLAND B MINE directed by Mateen Kemet. She was Co-Producer on the feature film SIX SEX SCENES AND A MURDER, also for East Meets West Productions. Ramona also Co-produced on the feature film TOO PERFECT. Ramona will be directing and producing MOMS GOT MUSCLE, a feature film she co-wrote, with Kelly Byrn. Ramona has also formed her own production company, MOMS GOT MUSCLE PRODUCTIONS, LLC.
I think Moms Got Muscle impact will be that we can have films that feature mature women in the forefront and it can be funny and insightful and also entertaining. No one gets excluded. It can all work together.
MOMS GOT MUSCLE, promises to deliver a punch thats been missing for some time. Four women of diverse ethnic backgrounds in their 40s who are coming together for a class reunion that promises to ring out, Hey, were here and were still kicking ass!
WHAT WE NEED, WHAT YOU GET!
My budget for this film project is $100,000.00. This may seem like a lot (and, yes, it is) but for film making, it really isn't. My main objective was to be able to make a film and be able to PAY my team. Movies are not made alone and I strongly believe that people need to be paid for their time and skill put toward the project. So, if I can make this film and be able to compensate the cast and crew while doing it, would be ideal.
Along with paying the cast of 27 and a crew 22, certain staples in movie making need to be covered:
Food/drink for the cast and crew dailyCamera Package Rental
Grip Truck Rental
My only source of funding for this project will come directly from this campaign. That is why NO AMOUNT is to small. You can donate any dollar amount that you are comfortable with. If you look to the right side column you will see the many perks/incentives that we have for you. I really like the perk of getting your classic car in the film. Who doesn't like to show off their ride?
If you have a business and would like to do a sponsorship with the film, you can contact me or check out the opportunities our website.
So, I really hope you will join our MOMS GOT MUSCLE team and help this film come to life. Every dollar made will be going directly to this project. If all goes well, by next year, you can be sitting and watching a film YOU help create.
