A young screenwriter, Andrew DeMatton returns home to a ranch in South Dakota where his Grandfather is sick. While home, a series of unexplained, other worldly events take Andrew on a psychological journey where reality and insanity collide.
Science Fiction and human psychology have always fascinated me. We write and film films of all genres but this genre is what I would consider that I "Specialize" in. Science Fiction allows us more artistic license that most other genres which allows us to become more immersed or lost in the story. In this particular story we brought together a psychological thriller set in a science fiction genre. The result is a film that twists and turns, taking us on a journey where our search for the truth may end up being a goal we do not wish to attain.
Born in Dublin, educated in England, and now based in Rapid City, South Dakota, I have dedicated myself from a very young age to creating different worlds through film. Believing that a film maker must thoroughly understand our world before recreating another through the lens, I have traveled the world to better understand the way different people of different cultures speak, love, embrace, and (occasionally) hate each other. As a film maker, I have won several national and international awards for my work in film and have worked on large Hollywood studio films.
"MIRROR" a short film, is a passion project that has been created between a professional group of film makers in South Dakota, Boston and Virginia. Filmed on location in the Black Hills of South Dakota on the Epic Red Camera, the same camera used to film films such as The Hobbit. The production values and quality is as high and professional as what you would expect from a Hollywood motion picture.
The good news is; the movie has already been filmed! In December of 2012 the cast and crew of MIRROR came together in the Black Hills of South Dakota and completed principle photography of the movie. We are currently in the post production phase of editing.
This is where your help and participation comes in.
What We Need & What You Get
The pre-production and principle photography budget was raised privately before pre-production of MIRROR began. Now that we are in the final stages of creating the film there are, of course, the most important elements still to be created.
Every movie needs music, all music needs a composer and they need to be great. We also need an audio engineer that has a great ear to create all the foley (sound effects) for the movie as well as cleaning up and creating a crystal clear audio track for us. We need a colorist to do our final color correction of the image of the film plus many other items that are required to finish a film.
Once we are done, MIRROR will be entered into film festivals and used as a stepping stone to raise further funding for future feature films.
Even if we don't reach our goal, every penny raised takes us that step closer to a completed film. Our total budget for MIRROR is $35,000. $20,000 of this budget was already raised and used in pre-production and the principle photography of the film. We need you to help us fulfill our dream, in return we are offering to make your dreams come true also with some very enticing pledge rewards.
We will be adding clips from the movie, stills and a full trailer soon for you to see as an insight into the project.
If you can't contribute it's OK, there are other ways to help us, please share this page with as many people as you can.
