"MBAs Across America will allow entrepreneurs direct access to intellectual resources that they may not have the time or connections to obtain otherwise. This is how businesses and MBA students should be growing and learning; on the ground, on the road, and around the kitchen tables across America.”
-Sarah Calhoun, founding owner of Red Ants Pants; 2011 Montana Entrepreneur of the Year; 2012 SBA National Women in Business Champion
The MBAxAmerica Vision
A few months ago, four first-year Harvard Business School students asked themselves a simple question: What if MBAs left their classrooms to learn from and work with real entrepreneurs in places beyond the typical hubs of New York and San Francisco?
Then we stopped asking "What if?" and started MBAs Across America.
This summer, we will pile into an RV and drive across the country to partner with visionary entrepreneurs who have a challenge or opportunity that they would like to get a fresh look on. We will ask big questions, tell great stories, and start building a movement that will last far beyond this summer — but we can't do any of this without you.
Why We Need You
We know you might be asking yourself, "Why do HBS kids need money???" The truth is that we're actually just four folks — Amaris, Casey, Hicham, and Mike — with small wallets and a big dream. But with your help we can make this dream a reality, not just for ourselves but for entrepreneurs across the country.
Your contribution will allow us to do a few important things:
- Survive for the summer (very important)
- Rent an RV for 70 days and drive over 5000 miles
- Make MBAxAmerica free and valuable for the entrepreneurs we work with
- Create great content that tells the stories of extraordinary people & places
- Grow MBAxAmerica into a movement that can truly change the world
In return, you'll become a part of the MBAxAmerica journey and get some awesome (if we might say so ourselves) perks along the way — from postcards, to an MBAxAmerica iPod with our special mixtape already loaded, to a one-day MBAxAmerica workshop with the nonprofit of your choice.
This is Only the Beginning
Our journey isn't about swooping in with all the answers. It's about using a dose of humility to discover the inspiring work that entrepreneurs are doing in places we might least expect. It's about rolling up our sleeves and trying to help take their business to the next level. It's about connecting them with great allies — from professors to Fortune 500 execs or Silicon Valley VCs who may have never heard of White Sulphur Springs, Montana (home to Red Ants Pants, one of the businesses we'll work with this summer).
Even if you can't contribute money, you can certainly contribute to our mission by sharing our campaign with all your friends and following our journey throughout the summer & beyond.
To the future!
