The campaign for Matchbreakers is at an end, and what an amazing show of support we received. With your donations, we will be able to make a pretty darn good piece. This is only the beginning. Follow us on Facebook or here on this page to receive all the updates as Matchbreakers continues its journey from page to screen.
Matchbreakers is not a story of love. It is not a story of romance. It is not (unfortunately) a story of sex. It is the story of Nick and Blair, two unsuspecting strangers, and the horrible date to which they find themselves subjected. It is the story of The Perfect Couple, Sam and Catherine, and how their perfect plans and their perfect teeth and their perfect life do not make them perfect match-makers. It is the story of Tyler and Ashley, a couple for whom nothing is the greatest aphrodisiac.
It is a story of vengeance. A story of deceit. A story that anyone who's ever been on a bad date will understand.

The TeamMatchbreakers marks the fifth (or sixth?) team-up between writer/director Cameron Beyl and writer/actor Kyle Andrews. Graduates of Emerson College, we have been working together for almost a decade. Our projects include the hilariously creepy Vicariously, dramatic short The Architect, and the romantic feature Strawberry Melancholy (ah, college.) We have been developing the script and process of Matchbreakers for the better part of 2013, and we are now ready to fund what we hope to be one of the funnier non-romantic romantic comedies.

Why We Need Funding
Making films can be cheap, and the result is a wonderfully cheap-looking film. We’d like to raise a decent amount in the hope of making this short as attractive as we can. This is why we’re asking you to chip in.
Think of it as a blind date. You don’t necessarily know what you’re getting into, but you’re hoping for the best - and you’ve already committed at least 5 dollars to the experience. Maybe you want someone smart, funny, and (please dear God) attractive. That’s what we want for Matchbreakers. And the more money we spend, the more enticing our date will be. Just like real life.
Some of the things we need:
A location that sets the atmosphere for the piece (including props and decor).
Approval/permits from SAG-AFTRA so that we can cast the right people.
A crew of trained professionals. And trained professionals usually like to be paid.
A badass camera. The better the camera, the better looking the final project.
The rest of the equipment.
- Marketing, editing, music, insurance, and food. Even pasta costs money.
Nick: Kyle Andrews
Blair: Allegra Lucchesi
Sam: Toby Meuli
Catherine: Jenna Johnson
The Nihilists: TBD
Director: Cameron Beyl
What Happens Next
Camera is expected to roll January 2014. Once the film is complete, we intend to present it to film festivals in California and around the country. We also hope to feature it online in some form or another.
In the meantime, we will be updating this page with the latest information, videos and images, casting news, production and funding milestones, and maybe a fun surprise or two.We believe in this film. Obviously we do, we wrote the damn thing. Hopefully, you believe in it too. So donate, anticipate, and share this project, and we will be forever grateful. Thank you so much for all of your support.
