Film Artist/Musician Ian Bustard was sitting in a bar in Glasgow talking to local actor Marty Docherty who had just returned from Berlin where he was playing Tom Hanks' Irish brother in the soon to be released Warner Bros movie Cloud Atlas.
Marty not only entertained his friend but the entire bar with glamourous stories of working with Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving, Jim Broadbent, Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant.
"When's the premiere big man?" A boozy regular asked from across the bar.
"There's no way I could afford to go, said Marty sipping his Tennents Lager.
"We'll have a whip round big man, shouted the drunken regular.
Ian looked Marty in the eye and said, "Marty, you've got to go. How many times in your life do you get the chance to be in a Warner Brothers movie?"
Ian phoned fellow filmmaker Martyn Robertson from the toilet of the bar and in a one minute 58 second phone call the plan was hatched.
Marty goes to Hollywood is a film that follows a young actors dream. Having just appeared in a Warner Brothers Film our story follows Marty from the hills of Castlemilk in Glasgow to the Hollywood hills in LA where he will ask the industry if he has what it takes to make it as an international artist. Marty will attend the premiere of the movie, meet the movers and shakers of the LA film industry and find out if his dreams can come true.
The final film we make will be sent to broadcasters in Scotland and America and we will host a secret premiere of our own in Glasgow next year.
We need your help to fund the basics for our project. We have the backing of an independent production company for equipment for production but we need to raise funds for flights, insurance, accommodation and the post production of our documentary.
