NEW VIDEO UPDATE

Watch the new video update of the pre-shoot, featuring Eric Steele and David Ellison in an amazing improv sketch. Crystal Dix knows good TV when she sees it!

Hello!

Thank you for looking at my cool project!

I am shooting my thesis film for my MFA degree in directing this Fall and am looking for people to back my cool production!

The story...

This is the story of a day in the life of Martina Dix. Martina is an 12 year old girl that wants what every girl wants: To be popular at school and look fabulous along the way. But the wasteful spending of her mother Crystal, who has made it her life's motivation to own every figurine set to ever be sold on the local home shopping channel "Opulent Paragons", is coming between Martina and the life she wants to have. Turns out that all the socks in the world stuffed inside Martina's bra won't help her winning over her mother's attention!

Calling all trust fund babies...

The good news is: my crew and equipment is "free"! The bad news is: there are plenty of other costs that need to be covered.

The money raised here will be used for props (think figurines), set design, transportation, film + development (yes, I am shooting on 16mm), food and drinks for the cast and crew, costume (think socks), talent, and all those little things that add up.

My current budget is estimated at $10,000. But I hope to make it under that.

Are you or your kids around 12 years of age and looking for a breakthrough role as an extra on set? Do you cook enough to feed a soccer team? Do you have a van in or around San Francisco that could transport equipment around town? I think you just found yourself a new friend!

SCORE: All contributors will be invited to an amazing wrap gala party!

NEVER ENDING PERKS: Every 10th person to contribute will be awarded a printed production artwork of their choosing!

The "goal"...

There are so many stories I want to tell about so many people who are fascinating to me. Yet more than anything I like to explore who those people were before they became the person I know them to be. I spend a lot of time thinking of how other people grew up, and enjoy hearing the stories they tell me, which are all so thrilling in so many different ways. Small scenes of a childhood are often enough to inspire a whole story revolving around it.

I always felt like the best stories come from moments that were meant to be forgotten. The awkwardness of a child and the things it does that would be unexplainable and unmentionable if done by anyone but the child. The innocence of a child that makes us blush in shame and recognition. I wanted my thesis project to capture the most personal of feelings yet speak to everyone, and I feel there is no better way to do this than through a stage of development we all go through in our life - the development from a child to an adult. A development of so much confusion and importance.

Sincerely your BFF,

Tizia
