Tesa died of sudden Parvo Virus infeccion. I am thankful that my puppy was able to spend her last day in my arms and truly loved. I want to thank everyone for all their support. Thankfully we were able to pay for her medical bills and money cotributed was used to buy a cream to help Maly's recover from her skin injuries. Again thank you everyone for all your help and prayers.
Hi,
Let me introduce myself, my name is Isela Triana. I live in Coahuila, Mexico but I go to school in San Antonio, Tx. I recently made a campaign here for an online store I wanted to open but unfortunatly I didn't have enough time to promote it, so I did not raise funds. Ofcourse I was not going to give up but now I am in need of funds for my two amazing dogs Maly and Tesa which are more important to me than my store.
How I got Maly and Tessa
This past May my grandfather asked me if I could take in his dog because she was sick and he could not take care of her. At first I was a bit hesitant because we already have four dogs in the house but I couldn't say no. When he arrived with her I was in shock at the condition the poor dog was in and even more surprised at the newborn puppies she had laying next to her! The poor dog had lost all of her hair and her skin had turned a scaly dark brown. Her nails were so long that they curled underneath to her paw. I was furious at my grandfather, a man that raises over 50 roosters at a time could not take the time to take this dog to the vet. As I took her in I noticed her eyes looked very sad and tired but with some kind of relief. That same day I took her to the vet and he bathe and clipped her nails but could not give her any kind of treatment because she was feeding her newborn puppies. Fortunately, all four puppies seem to be in good health. So I brought all five home and took care of them.
All of her puppies were very lovable and a month and a half later I had given three away to good homes. I kept Tesa whom I bonded heavily with. She was different than all the chihuahuas I had own she was extremely lovable and smart, I even began to train her when she was only four weeks old! Maly had also turned out to be an awesome pet she is also very smart and a very kind mother. She taught Tesa how to climb out her cage and everyday she plays with her. We noticed she would even hunt for baby lizards to eat, a method probably self taught from mal nutrition she suffered. They both intigrated very well with the rest of my dogs, they love them so much.
Their illness
After a few months I noticed some red spots on Tesa's face while she slept on my bed. My parents and I thought it had been from washing her with baby wipes so we did not put much attention to it. When we had guests over Tesa had to sleep outside with her mom and my other chihuahua Mono. Only a few days later her whole face swole up and immidiately took her to the vet. He gave us an ointment for scabbies but as soon as I would put it on her her face will turn a bright red and blister. I took her again to the vet and he changed her treatment to allargies. Turns out she is allergic to pollen, dirt, even some type of grass weeds.( Living in a small town in Mexico is almost impossible to stay away from dirt.) Her new treatment began to work and her face cleared up a bit.
A few weeks later as I cleaned the storage room I noticed the sores again but this time around her body. I kept with her treatment but I didn't seem to work much. She began losing her hair and had an uncontrolable itch. We tried some natural creams but again it would only work for a bit. So I took her back to the vet. By this time tesa almost lost all her hair and had sores through out her whole body. The vet explained that it was an extreme allergy reaction and to leave her at his care for two weeks. He would give her two weeks to have some kind of change if not we will have to decide if we should put her to sleep, so that she won't suffer. But that is not what I want I know there are treatments to help it is just expensive especially here in Mexico. She has been there for the last few days and the vet says she seems to be doing fine and her sores are healing. Maly inherited this disease to Tesa ,actually it is very dificult to know what Maly was sick of and is beyond amazement how she survived with my grandfather's lack of attention to her and is now healthy. It is so sad for me to see Maly looking for Tesa while she is in the vet's care.
Also her three other siblings began to have the same syntoms but are recovering much faster than Tesa and only had it around their face.
Treatment
In Tesa's case she is going to need constant treatments for her allergies and I need to create a very clean and sterile enviroment for her. I am building her a large cage for her to be inside the house ( She won't always be caged). Also the veterinary bill is piling up we still don't know how much we are going to have to pay until she can come back home. The vet would also like blood work done on both Tesa and Maly to check for hypothyroidism and that is done in Monterrey four hours away from my small town. For Maly she is healthy but her skin still gets very hot and her hair has not grown back yet she need a special treatment and shots.
This is without knowing if they are going to need medication if they are positive for hypothyroidism
How your donations will be used
Donations will be used to pay Tesa's medical bills and medications as well as Maly's treatment for her skin. I will also use donations to build and provide a cleaner and sterile enviroment to help with her allergies like I stated we live in Mexico and there is dirt everywhere. Also please be aware that $500 dollars is about $5,500 pesos any contribution that we get will be alot of help.
By making a donation I want to sent everyone a postcard picture of Maly and Tesa aswell as email Newsletters on their recovery. If you can't contribute but will still like to get the Newsletter please sent me your email.
What You can do to Help
If you can't contribute please just send prayers our way and pass this campaign to anyone you feel can help.
