My name is Laurentiu and i'm 32 years old maker. For the last two years i am following Bart Dring forum www.buildlog.net and his amazing Open Source innovative projects that he made. One of them is MakerSlide, the cheap, reliable rail system, that i felt in love for it.So for this reason, after a talk with the creator of the rail Bart Dring, last year i have decided to start a campaign to raise funds for a die to produce MakerSlide in Europe, but in the same time somebody else from UK have started a similar campaign that have been successfully funded , so i decided to wait and buy from him.The problem is that the prices are steal a little bit to high and that he sell rails bigger then 1 meter only to UK.
Now after i bought my first eShapeoko Hobby CNC, and played a little bit, i got more in love for the MakerSlide and i decided to start a campaign to raise funds for a die and first production run of the rail to make it more available and cheap to makers in Eastern Europe.
The biggest design, cost and fabrication hurdles in a new CNC design are the linear bearings. There are a lot of commercial and DIY solutions out there, but none support an easy, low cost and rapid fabrication philosophy. So here comes MakerSlide. Based on the tried-and-true system of V-groove bearings running on V-rails, MakerSlide integrates the V-rail into a widely used 20×40 mm aluminium extrusion profile, thus offering both linear motion and structural support in one piece. Delrin V-wheels run on the V-rail and stay true to several axes at the same time, creating a firm and sturdy linear bearing. To adjust the tension on the track, a small eccentric spacer is integrated into the axle of one of the V-wheels, making the system easily adjustable and simple to implement.
What We Need & What You Get

What's the aim of this project?
The goal is to be able to make MakerSlide available for builders, hackers and designers in East Europe. MakerSlide extrusion is already available in America, Canada and UK through Inventables and MakerslideEurope, but the cost of international shipping surpasses most hobby budgets. If the funding goal is reached, a well known European will manufacturer a production run. Alongside manufacturing the MakerSlide extrusion, we are also going to get some of the MakerSlide accessories made.

Completing the project
If half of the goal is reached in the first 10 days, I will give the go ahead to the selected manufacturer to start making the die, this way i will speed up the time. Once the die has being created, production will start and enough extrusion will be produced to honour the rewards. The manufacturer of the Makerslide is one of the biggest companies in aluminium extrusion in Europe, very reliable with care for control of quality.
It should take about 4 weeks for the production run to be completed after the campaign has finished, and another week for collection and packaging, ready for dispatch. Then the final delivery time will depend on your location.
This means the majority of backers should receive their rewards before the end of May.
