Make Power Wheels Racing Possible in 2012!

In a world where High Schools can no longer afford art and science programs, the Power Racing Series aims to pick up the slack with $500 electric DIY cars.

we make engineering fun for kids of all ages

A bold question: Why is engineering so unappealing to the general public?

To many people, engineering is seen as an out-of-reach profession of intense specialization. Popular perception paints an image of long hours, little margin for error and many years of expensive education.

We know that there's so much more to making.

The pressures of this glorious profession turn many younger audiences off to the prospect of engineering before they even have a chance to get their hands dirty. We believe we need to show the public just how wrong this idea is. We want to inspire creativity by breaking down the barrier of entry. We know that you don't need to fear failure; embrace it!

We've set out to create an event that integrates the challenges of electrical engineering with the excitement of experimentation. We want people to take their work seriously without the pressure of fierce competition and secrecy. We believe that engineering can be cheap, use open source hardware and knowledge, and be accessible to any level of expertise.

With these values in mind, the Power Racing Series was born.

We are the Power Racing Series.

Teams from across the country modify plastic electric ride-on vehicles (Power Wheels) into full-fledged sub-$500 racing machines. They hack their cars for drag races, crazy road courses and menacing endurance runs designed to bring out the engineer in everyone.

However, we need your help. If we can't raise enough funds through this campaign, we might not be able to operate this season at all.

Your donations to this project go towards the following:

  • renting a timing and scoring system for the series
  • constructing track-related infrastructure (podiums, lights & scoreboards)
  • funding more safety equipment for the drivers
  • affording basic travel and lodging expenses for our volunteers
  • covering insurance and rental costs for 3 races this season

Help make affordable electric racing machines possible!

We want to make the 2012 season unforgettable, and with your support, we can. We've developed some really fantastic gifts to offer to our supporters -- from full-color trading cards to a one-of-a-kind PPPRS painting, we really want to show you our thanks.

So, please join us in bringing the Power Racing Series to your community!
