Big thanks to everyone that participated in this campaign. We were able to use this to spread the word to new supporters. We also had many people that supported the campaign outside of IndieGoGo -- because of this, we came much closer to our goal than the numbers here show. If you would still like to support our efforts to bring the first Peace Center to Sierra Leone, please visit www.thepeaceproject.com/donate We're still offering the perks listed here for donations through July 15.
Thank you for joining hands with us. Stay tuned for updates. PLUS: On July 10th, we'll announce our 3rd Annual Peace Project Call-for-Artists. Find details at www.thewhole9.com/thepeaceproject-info.php
The Peace Project and thousands of creatives worldwide joined hands with the people of Sierra Leone, Africa in one of the most unique collaborations ever attempted, Operation Rise. On September 21st, World Peace Day, 10,000 pairs of crutches were distributed across the country to amputees, war victims, polio survivors, women and children -- some who had been crawling on the ground for ten years.
We’ll build the first Peace Center in Sierra Leone. The Peace Center is a multi-use facility that will provide critical skills training and educational programs designed to get people working and out of poverty as quickly as possible.
Make Peace is a fundraising campaign that creates greater equality between donors and recipients. Although many people in Sierra Leone can use a hand-up, they're not looking for a hand-out. We’ve turned traditional fundraising upside down and have invited everyone, including the most financially challenged in Sierra Leone, to participate. As you’ll see by the video above, they’ve stepped up.
We seek to raise a minimum of $50,000 (50% of the cost of the structure shown above). $100,000 will make this a reality.
GIVE NOW, GET LATER
No matter where you are, you'll get something in return. See the incredible list of incentives that have been donated by creatives who believe that if we share our resources, we can "make peace."
