Magical Puppet Bus Tour

How do you turn an ordinary van into a traveling, art-spreading, puppet theater, museum & schoolhouse? We know how! All we need is the van.

We are two puppets companies coming together to go on an art-spreading adventure. Poncili comes from Puerto Rico where we did murals, taught workshops, and held weekly puppet shows.  Jawbone Puppet Theater, based in Brooklyn, NY is Adam Ende who has been making puppet shows for 15 years, and now makes and performs shows with his five-year-old son, Ling Ling.

So, five adult puppeteers and a five-year-old are embarking on a two-month tour to spread art and wonder through cities and small towns in the United States, especially communities that have little or no access to the arts. To this end, we will perform puppet shows, sell cheap hand-made art, and teach free workshops--we have over 14 workshops from mask making to juggling.   Other activities will include "free mask give-aways" and "collective murals with kids."  This is not just a puppet tour--it's an experiment in art, life, theater and education, in which we intend to fully engage with the communities we visit, and hope that by sharing and creating art together we will create a little bit more magic in the world.

We already have the puppet shows, the cheap art, the passion, and a highly developed sense of wonder.  Now all we need is a van.  The purpose of this campaign is to raise the funds to buy a van.  Our goal of $4000 will go towards buying a van, and transforming it inside and out, into the mobile art-spreading puppet theater/museum/schoolhouse of our dreams.

All our perks are home made limited editions done by both our theater companies, your only chance to get a print by a 5 year old puppeteer or a personalized mask etc. ,feel free to browse and contact us with any questions about them.

we're so grateful for your interest in our project, help us get this bus on the road and spread the magic of art daily.

Sincerely,

Poncili co.

Jawbone Puppet Theater.

Other Ways You Can Help

If you are interested in collaborating with the project in other ways besides donating money, and you live somewhere between New York and Texas, donations of used or new paint for our murals and puppets, and food for our tour are both very useful.  We are also looking for more spaces and communities that could benefit from our visit, and groups that would be interested in our workshops, as well as housing options along the way.  If you, or someone you know, might be interested in any of the above, please get in contact with us at poncili500@gmail.com

Thanks again!
