Mad as Hell: Rise of The Young Turks  - -  We are raising funds to finish post production on our documentary about The Young Turks.

SYNOPSIS: "Mad as Hell: Rise of The Young Turks" follows Cenk Uygur's transformation from an unknown conservative talk show host on Public Access TV to a progressive internet sensation with his show "The Young Turks," which has amassed over 800 million views on YouTube. On a self-imposed mission to speak the truth, Cenk attempts to fix the fundamentally broken system of politics and media in America, thus attracting a loyal audience and building the largest online news show in the world. Once Cenk ventures from the internet into national television and secures the 6 PM slot on MSNBC, his uncensored brand of journalism is compromised and Cenk becomes the nexus in the battle between new and old media.

Our Goal:  We want to raise enough funds to complete post-production on the film - which means the money we raise will go towards paying for editors, a composer, a sound mixer, color correction, titles and graphics, etc. All these things will make the film more polished and enjoyable to watch.  We'll also need to pay for the required legal fees, clearances, and licenses so that we can show this film in theaters, on television, on the internet, and on DVDs. In the event that we raise more than our goal, we’ll use the funds to enter film festivals and help cover transportation costs to the screenings.  

How You Can Help:  Any amount you can contribute is much appreciated and will definitely help us to reach our goal, and we want to make it worth your while.  We are offering perks such as DVDs and BLU-RAYs of the film, MAD AS HELL T-SHIRTS, POSTERS signed by Cenk and The Young Turks, and tickets to the exclusive Cast & Crew screening of the film. We'll also be offering featurettes, deleted scenes, and never-before-seen footage to donors during our 30-day IndieGoGo crowd funding campaign, so check back daily for the latest updates.

About the Filmmaker:  Andrew Napier grew up in Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he made the documentary “Mary and Bill” (Best of Fest Award 2011).  After having the opportunity to work on the set of “Inglourious Basterds” in Berlin, Andrew moved to Los Angeles in 2009 and was hired as a producer for “The Young Turks."  He began documenting behind the scenes as Cenk Uygur fought to get on MSNBC.  During this period, Andrew produced the award winning short film “Curfew” (Offical Selection, Tribeca 2012) and directed the upcoming short film “Grandma’s Not a Toaster."  In 2011 he left The Young Turks and began assembling the footage he captured into the feature documentary “Mad as Hell: Rise of the Young Turks."

NOTES & DISCLAIMERS:  All events in the Perks (such as the pre-screening drinks, cast and crew screening, after party, dinner, meeting, and private screening) will take place in Los Angeles, CA.  Unfortunately, transportation and lodging cannot be provided by us.  We hope you can make it!  However, if you become an Associate Producer, Co-Producer, or Executive Producer, and cannot make the cast and crew screening, we will provide two tickets for the film festival screening of "Mad As Hell" that is located nearest to you.  

Every single contribution over US$10 recieves the "Mad As Hell" Special Feature Digital Download Package.  To be clear, this does not contain the feature film, but it does include digital downloads of the following: five featurettes, film stills, the poster, the main title theme song from the original film score, and two official film trailers.  Unless you prefer to stay anonymous, every contributor will have their name added to our donor wall on our website, which will be launched in the next month.  

OVERSEAS SHIPPING UPDATE: All contributors who live outside of the North America need to include an additional US$5 for the MAD DVD and MAD BLU-RAY perks. All above perks require an additional US$20 to their contribution amount to cover addiitonal costs to send their perks overseas. No shipping needs to be added for the MAD THANKS perk, since that is download only. Thank you!

Posters signed by "ALL THE YOUNG TURKS" will be signed by Cenk and 5 other current employees of The Young Turks, most likely Ana, Steve, Jayar, Jesus, and Dave.

The DVDs and BLU-RAYS will not be available until after our initial festival run.  All other perks will be sent to you by February 28, 2013.  If you receive a "special thanks" or any producer credit, the credit will be added to the film and submitted to IMDB immediately after the campaign ends.
