About the story.
If you are a fan of either Alias or Firefly or "cyberpunk", you are going to love this show!
The Hacker Chronicles follows the story of elite futuristic femme fatale Chloe Raynor (Machete Girl) who is being chased by government assassins for theft of top secret information that if it gets out will change the human race forever. Chloe is in a race to decrypt the information before she is eliminated. The story also follows the interpersonal relationships of this elite hacker group five years after they lost a world war fought in Brazil and Peru when they were virtual reality cyber hackers.
There are lots of guns, chase scenes and down and dirty martial art fights! But there is also a strong story of love between Chloe and Sara and deep seeded hatred between factions that come to light later in the series.
Chloe is inherently a hero character but with several interpersonal flaws both in her social behavior and her outlook of the world. Although she is extraordinarily wealthy and has access to parts of society that most others on the planet cannot access she has a major problem with authority based on her experiences growing up without her parents and if challenged knows how to defend herself extremely well.
You as an audience member are engaged in the story telling process as you get to vote as to what happens at the end of each episode. In the first episode for example, one of the characters may or may not die depending on what you decide and the actress herself gets to appeal to the audience to save her character. Every 5 episodes (at the end of each season) there will be a significant game changer propelling the story forward.

"As a filmmaker I've had some minor success working on feature films in Japan and Australia but it was really working on films like Star Wars Episode II and The Matrix Revolutions, in Sydney Australia, that made me realise creating something so unique and original in a vast universe of possibility is truly what audiences want to see."

What We Need to Make This a Reality.
To make this episode a reality, we need 25k minimum, even if we don't raise that amount during the campaign the rest we intend to get from sponsors and via product placement to cover crew/ cast and various other costs.
We've been subsidised by the New South Wales Government for this project for hire of some equipment and studio hire through Metro Screen's Jump Start Program to the tune of 50% of 17k which is the largest amount they have ever given out under this program. While this helps in a big way legitimising the project by being recognised, practically, based on the scale of this production, it wont sustain the production on its own for very long.
If we don't reach the full amount it will still go a long way to show other potential sponsors and companies the support we have from the audience so to raise the rest of the funds.
Ditribution is a key factor in getting the message out to our followers and future fans of the series. Posters trailers, online advertising can be very costly and we want to maximise the use of this money to its absolute maximum potential.
We are making an attempt at pushing the boundaries of what a web series looks like and we want to sweep all of the awards worldwide and we want you to be a part of that journey! We clearly have the opportunity to connect with our audinece in a very unique way and we are not going to waste that. As the story develops over time and our fan base grows we'll be investigating the possibility of releasing a feature film as well as the comic book series, novels and action figures and if our fans desire it... a cyberpunk massive multiplayer online game based in the Machete Girl Universe.
The story is also about struggle and empowering the people to fight against corrupt systems that already exisit in this world. To that effect we've been looking mirroring speeches from film like Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator" to cathartically achieve what we want for the audience and also to send a real world message.
The Mantra for our story is:
“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.”
- Albert Camus
